Trump goes to Supreme Court over Mar-a-Lago search and seizure of documents
(CNN) - Former President Donald Trump has asked the Supreme Court to intervene in the dispute over materials the FBI seized from his Mar-a-Lago estate this summer.
His emergency request with Supreme Court is the latest example of the former President seeking to involve the justices in investigations that entangle him -- at a time when the high court's legitimacy in politically explosive cases is under intense scrutiny.

Well, that's it that's the end play for him. IMO this means that he was in imminent legal peril that was no longer avoidable by any other means, because he will absolutely defenseless in the wake if the SC doesn't side with him now.

The SC should rightly tell him to FO while the appropriate levels of govenrment deal with his Maxime Bernier levels of stupidity regarding govenrment documents.

Trump only asking Justice Thomas for the emergency order….
https://www.politico.com/news/2022/1...-case-00060300
Quote:
Lawyers for Trump asked Justice Clarence Thomas on Tuesday to issue an emergency order that would restore an outside reviewer’s authority over about 100 documents found at Mar-a-Lago with classification markings during the Aug. 8 search.
….
“In sum, the Government has attempted to criminalize a document management dispute and now vehemently objects to a transparent process that provides much-needed oversight,” Trump’s lawyers wrote.
The application was directed to Thomas because the stay removing the roughly 100 documents with classification markings from the special master process was granted by the Atlanta-based 11th Circuit, which Thomas oversees.
Thomas is likely to refer Trump’s request to the full court for action, as is typical when disputes are high profile or when an application might gain traction with some justices. There’s no formal timetable for Thomas or his colleagues to act, but a deadline for a response from the Justice Department will likely be set within a day or so.

Greene’s speech conflated her baseless belief in that conspiracy theory with another: that two violent incidents in disparate parts of America were entirely motivated by political animus. This claim that Democrats “already started the killings” was based on two isolated incidents, one of which was non-fatal.

I think I have a pretty staunch record of not advocating violence against women...........but this piece of #### makes it difficult to maintain that record.

serious question: what do the people of her district think of her? Is she representing their views faithfully? or is she a source of continual embarrassment that she represents their district?

I think that's the issue. People like her and Trump tell these people what their views are, and then they cheer. So she is perfectly representing their views(becuase they are hers).

She and Trump are pretty much the WWF of politics, they are voted for by voters because they think they are funny, I dont think their base thinks beyond that

In both Canada and the US - and probably everywhere - there are areas where a certain party can nominate an actual rock and win the seat by a giant margin (rural Alberta/Saskatchewan for CPC, rural US for Republicans, urban US for Democrats - urban cities will switch to the NDP if the Liberals run a rock so they have to find someone with a pulse, but that's about the only requirement).
So the only thing you have to do to win those seats is win the nomination. Typically in both Canada and the US - the party elite for major parties had enough control and could weed out the crazies. That control by the elites is diminished in the last decade or so - so now being the outlandish lands you attention which can win the nominations in these areas.

well....that's not surprising, but still disheartening. I was hoping people in her area were chomping at the bit to get her out of there....
thanks for answering.

At the same time, it is possible to get rid of someone like that if they stray too far. Don't forget Madison Cawthorn did get primaried this year. He was pretty much at the same level of Trumpiness as Boebert and MTG, but his B.S. went too far and they were able to get him. I don't know much about their respective districts though, so maybe Cawthorn had a more flippable one, but it should give a little bit of hope.
Then again, it did take them years to get rid of open racist Steve King in Iowa. So it can take a while....

There's been some very minor swings in polling in the Georgia race between Warnock and Walker over to Warnock after the report that Walker (very outspoken on his pro-life stance) paid $700 to a woman years ago to get an abortion. The GOP and Trump have come out in full force to defend him since it happened. I fully believe Warnock will lose which while expected will still blow my mind.

Glad it just hit their own base and didn't land in any civilian population.

Not sure if they've been posted here, but the tweets sent out by Walker's son a few days back are pretty damning and might hurt him more than the abortion thing imo. Sorry I'm not on twitter and don't know how to embed tweets...maybe someone can help (assuming anyone else cares).
Not sure how anyone who purports to stand for family values could ever think of voting for this piece of trash. Warnock will probably be haunted forever if he loses to this moron.

That is a good move. Good for justice, and good politics leading into midterms. Must be among the best things Biden has done.
