It will be on twitter before any app notification. The insiders all post their breaking news there first in every sport I follow. You're likely talking minutes so its not a huge difference - but it will be on twitter first.

And the sports app doesn't exactly allow embedding either.

That feature is definitely the strongest point Twitter has.

The timing of this coincides with Tesla deciding to remove the ultrasonic sensors from all new Model 3/Y builds. Coincidence maybe or maybe someone needs to increase profits.

I think he just knew he's screwed up and was going to get stuck paying for it so might as well act like it's his own idea to try to retain some value.

Yeah exactly, news/sports reporters always seem to post on Twitter first, and you can tell there's still that "rush to be first" mentality within that industry to break news so it's on there almost instantaneously.

I know Twitter (deservedly) gets dumped on for the cesspool it's become in recent years...but if you don't follow the plebs or political garble and just stick to sports/news sites as well as general interest accounts that appeal to you, it's still the best social media app IMO.

Besides the whole data going to China issues - TikTok is the best algorithimic social media app. You can just mindlessly scroll there and it just returns decent TikTok's constantly. Maybe its just because outlandish political takes don't get much traction there - or it just punishes that kind of content - its basically the new flipping through the TV without an idea of what you what to watch.

I hope he buys it and then somebody starts 'Twatter' and everyone moves over to the new platform.

I have a big Twitter account (maybe too big) that I use 95% for politics and a bit of sports. Follow great accounts and you can get instant news and commentary.

I've never understood the comments about well, the toxic comments. If they affect people that much, why not just not read them? I'll sometimes read the first few and move on. If I see something toxic in the comments though, it also doesn't bother me.

That's exactly idea. I'm glad the toxic comments may not bother you but there's already too much negativity in the world for some.

Musk's deposition delayed as they try to close the deal. Twitter is pushing back on Musk's attempt to add a new contingency on Musk being able to secure $13B in debt financing. Twitter wants protection from the court that would ensure Musk closes the deal, which seems a reasonable thing if it agrees to drop the case.

LOL. "The deal is contingent on Musk finding $13B in his couch cushions." Uhm, that's not the take it or leave it deal you offered. Nice try. Sell some stock, we know you got 'em.

Tesla stock down 10-11% in the last 5 days. I don't think they (rightly) want Musk to own Twitter.

From what I understand, the Musk "offer" was really just a demand to stay the proceedings (which Elon will lose) on a deal (which Elon already agreed to) contingent on financing (which was not part of the original deal). 4D chess for sure.

So will the bankers now sue Elon for submarining the debt offerings on Twitter, as he continually took shots at Twitter over the last several months? Debt markets are in the tank generally, and will be worse for Twitter specifically.

Musk's team requested that the trial be taken "off the calendar" as they say Musk intends to close the deal but needs time to arrange financing. Twitter didn't agree either to Musk's new deal conditions or to suspending the trial: https://s3.documentcloud.org/documen...stay-w-cos.pdf

Then the judge did grant a temporary stay until October 28. If the deal isn't closed by October 28 then the trial will proceed in November: https://www.documentcloud.org/docume...-granting-stay

That should be easy, unless someone has spent the last few months bashing the business publicly and saying that it's full of bots and spam?

What a ####ing baby.

But the request for funding comes after a high-profile intervention from Musk, who suggested Ukraine should seek an end to the war by surrendering territory to Russia and committing to remain “neutral”. His tweets led to a furious reaction from the Ukrainian government, which had previously praised Musk for offering the Starlink system.

“#### off is my very diplomatic reply to you,” tweeted Andrij Melnyk, the Ukrainian ambassador to Germany. “The only outcome is that now no Ukrainian will EVER buy your f…ing Tesla crap. So good luck to you.”

In response to a suggestion that Musk was threatening to withdraw Starlink because of Melnyk’s words, the SpaceX chief executive tweeted this morning that “we’re just following his recommendation #♂️”.
