Pointman, will you and your family have to serve your mandatory time in the Israeli Army immediately?

But surely even the Russian population knows what happens when you start nuking?

Wouldn't they prefer to lose the war and be in shame instead of ending the world?

Wait, so they use this huge cannon looking thing and took out a small spy type drone? It just overtakes the controls and brings it safely down to the cannon?

That is pretty cool, does it work on larger drones? Seems a lot safer than trying to shoot them out of the sky a la rednecks in north america. Lol

No, I don't think that would be the case.

If you're over 40 you're automatically exempt (if I recall this correctly).
Once the kids turn 18 then yes, they'll have to serve.

From the comments of that tweet, it looks like the big gun disrupts the communications between the drone and the controller and causes it to descend slowly to the ground... which is pretty awesome and safer than drones dropping out of the sky left and right.

When I got into the drone hobby 10 or so years ago, I'd say to people "Take this thing back in time 30 years, and someone's military would pay millions for it."

Only to get laughed at that no 'toy' would be functional on the Battlefield.

And here we are. Off the shelf DJI drones available at best buy for $1000 being used as military equipment.

My enthusiasm for the hobby waned quite a bit since all the flight restrictions have come in, and now I just have a DJI Mini 2. The last time I flew it, I was able to get a 7 km range with a clear signal (albeit I basically live in the country). and the thing is the size of a cell phone. At even 50 meters altitude, it's all but invisible and silent.

I just wonder if there is a risk to them using these DJI drones, as these are all made in China with Chinese software and all come with GPS receivers. We all pretty much know who the Chinese are siding with here.

The difference in gear between Russian Troops and the Ukrainian ones is also quite astounding. The Ukrainian soldiers have modern plate carriers, equipment, and most have helmets with rails on them like the ECH: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enhanc...(United_States)

The Russians look like they are getting military surplus from mothballed stuff from 40 years ago. The above video claims their helmets can be bent with a finger (corruption replace real helmets with Airsoft ones?) and there are only enough AKs for every 5th man to have one. That's worse than Enemy at the Gates!

Yikes, those videos above are quite telling... the difference between the gear is stark.

It's like they are trying to come up with excuses for why they are losing. They probably have a point, but making these videos and leaking them out probably just helps confirm that they know they failed.

It's good to remember that everything Ukraine posts is more or less straight up propaganda, and that the difference in morale causes creates differences in what people will complain about. Ukrainians aren't likely to post videos about their crappy gear.

Doesn't mean there isn't a real difference of course, there's plenty of evidence that Russian troops are being sent out with incredibly subpar equipment. But I wouldn't take what the Ukrainians are posting as the reality of their average.

Its the US really saying they weren't involved in the botched assassination, so don't blame us for it. Really, who else besides the Ukrainians would try though?

Russian partisans and dissidents I guess.
