Musk's letter to proceed to buy Twitter is contingent on "the Delaware Chancery Court enter an immediate stay of the action, Twitter vs. Musk, et al. (C.A. No. 202-0613-KSJM) (the “Action”) and adjourn the trial and all other proceedings related thereto pending such closing or further order of the Court."

So if they do that what's stopping Musk from doing this all over again with some other imaginary problem?

PeteMoss Twitter tips:
1. Use the latest tweets options to limit the algorithimic tweets that will bring in a bunch of the 'high engagement' tweets which are basically just people trying to make you rage
2. Once a person you follow starts to go off the deep end or gets your goat - just unfollow them
3. Don't click into a tweet to read the replies on anything even tangentially political. I don't know if its bots, troll farms or just horrible people in those replies - but just stay away.

You do know some of us will actually stand behind our morals and ethics even if it isn't convenient, right? While not terribly active on Twitter, I deleted my account when this all initially happened. I remain off of Facebook because I don't agree with their data collection strategies. I avoid Hobby Lobby and Chik Fil A as best I can.
Its hard as individuals to be aware of every bad company. I'm sure I unfortunately have some clothing that was made in a sweatshop by a child. I am sure I have eaten some meat that was raised in a terribly unethical mega farm. But I do try and do my best to avoid supporting companies that I don't feel square with my moral compass.

Sure. There's always 1-2% of people who say something like that who'll actually do it. But they are a vast minority over those who ACTUALLY do it, and treating the outliers like the majority is a fool's errand. For the vast majority of people, threatening to leave somewhere/not do something in righteous indignation over that thing's whatever will not happen, thus the majority of people saying they will are simply virtue signaling.

Yup, it isn't hard staying off Twitter or Facebook when you never started in the first place. I don't feel like I a missing out on anything.

I would guess Elon spends a year "cleaning up" Twitter, then IPOs it to salvage something from this disaster. Even if he loses $30 billion, that's still better than $44 billion.

Funny when I browse on my phone, I get a pretty normal feed, when browsing the same on my PC browser, I get a much different feed, mostly Conservative friendly accounts I don't even follow. Settings on both should be the same but big difference

Yeah the algorithm drives me crazy. I've been pretty addicted to Twitter for over a decade now, I swear it wasn't like that before. Just put people I follow in my TL, I hate how much they force you to see on there "based on my likes", or other BS reasons. Those are always the most annoying tweets too.

Lifetime In Suspension

I have never seen something in my timeline that wasn’t from someone I follow. Latest is the only way to go. Do people actually use the Home feed?

it's the only social media site I use and I limit it strictly to sports (NHL, NFL, soccer). If you don't stray from that (and I will echo the "only use the 'latest tweets' option" sentiment), Twitter is actually great and serves a purpose. Which is more than what most social media sites can say IMO.

So despite Musk's letter no one has requested a stay. Maybe everyone just forgot...

I haven’t used or been on twitter for a while but the comments often have some good nuggets in them. I’m not sure it was a smart move for Musk to buy it as I think it could be a dying platform. I don’t miss it so that’s a personal preference/opinion I guess.

If you only reacted to cute puppies, your feed would only be cute puppies. The algorithms may differ, but ultimately they all just feed you whatever you react to. Knowing this, it's not too hard to train the algorithm to give you stuff you actually like. It's not just likes and dislikes, the algorithms are also paying attention to how much time you spend looking at something and how likely you are to comment.
Some of the greatest minds in the world are working around the clock, figuring out how to build algorithms that turn your brain into malleable puddy.

I like in sports forums when fellow posters post tweets from team beat writers and insiders as I get to see relevant news on my teams without having to resort to making an account and following people. I feel if I got an account I may become more invested with it and the comments section which is overrun with negativity. I try to limit the amount of negativity in my social media to Facebook (I occasionally used) and forums.

A sports app or even the NHL one will give you breaking news before it’s even posted anywhere, even on here sometimes.

I wonder if Twitter resets this to "Home" every time it updates, because I know I set it to Latest Tweets (as I primarily use it as real-time chatter/news updates when watching the game). After reading this I double/checked, and sure enough it's set to Home again...that explains it. Thanks for the inadvertent reminder!
