If we sign Stone how do we carry Stone Mackey and Meloche and all those forwards. There is no room for Milano and Eakin.

Not worth potentially losing Ruzicka to sign Eakin. Unless Eakin is willing to be waived and play in Calgary in the AHL for extra depth then he probably doesn’t get a contract.
Yeah that's the alternative and I do think Eakin would probably clear waivers. No telling if he'd report though. I don't dispute he'd be good organizational depth to have around.

It's cool to hear Hanifin call Tanev their leader.

I wonder if Ruzicka maybe put on too much weight this summer. Wasn't the report he's 238 lbs now?

Zohorna lost 6 pounds according to Burke, and is 220 lbs in order to play with more speed.

It's not like Ruzicka was fast to begin with.

It seems somewhat likely that they are penciling Zohorna onto the the 3rd line, pushing Rooney down to the 4th

The guys get programs from the team, Sutter praised his off ice work and said he has a man's body now.

I think Eakin would be a fine signing but I don’t think the net benefit of his signing is worth the risk of loosing Ruzicka on waivers

Kylington may well be starting the reason on LTIR.

That leaves room for Stone and Mackey (7 D). Meloche and Valimaki waived and sent down.

I was wondering if Kylington might be eligible for some cap relief.

Honestly — and I'm saying this as someone who wasn't a huge fan of the signing — but if you can get a Rooney/Backlund/Coleman line to work in similar fashion to the Goodrow/Gourde/Coleman line, I think you're in really good shape. I don't think Kevin Rooney is your ideal third-line forward by any means but he's a way better skater in person than I anticipated and I could see him providing tangible upside if that line clicks.

Wouldn't that be something.

I’m less sure now with how good Rooney has looked on that line tonight.

Zohorna might get a look as the 4th line Center now since he can play the middle too

Side note: having a pool like that with a toddler toddling around would be constantly stressful

If we suspend Kylington does that give is cap relief and a roster spot? Don't players on a leave usually get suspended as a paper transaction to open up a spot?

I don't think you need to suspend him — he's just designated as non-roster, I believe

I hope the team finds a way to keep Stone. I know it's only preseason but man this guy has been a scoring machine lately.

Yup, if Rooney ends up on Backlund's line, I won't mind it at all. Good size and a smart player.

But I think the lineup might fit better with him centering the 4th line and Zohorna on the 3rd line wing.

Either way, Backlund and Coleman will make either one look like a good player

Rooney robs Backlund of another primary assist.
