I think Stone should be in the starting 6. Can’t comment as much on Eakin and Milano. If they aren’t head and shoulders above the AHL players I would give the spots to the farm kids. For morale if anything.

They are not making it easy on these PTOs . Playing with AHL forwards against edm's vets will again be a challenge

Agreed with this 100000%. Play Milano with Backlund or Kadri in some of these last few games.

I haven’t seen anything from Milano yet that would warrant earning a contract and making the team to play in the top 6. Still time, but it’s running out.

Milano is what, 26? Obviously this is what you want to do with your life if you're signing a PTO but Jesus man put some effort into it. Hes a bum.

A touch premature considering only 4-5 players have looked at a regular season level so far and he's playing with guys over their head or not up to snuff . Maybe give him a couple more shots to showcase himself .. specifically with nhl regulars.

Not me. If he is good enough to play on the second line; then there is no reason at all that he should not be expected to distinguish himself in these games, even against the longest of odds to score, or to win. I just don't think he has done enough.

Nope.
If he's playing with cruddy players, he should stand out. I.e. making a great pass (even if the guy can't finish it); remarkable speed; great shooting; good hustle; etc. If he's truly going to make the team, he should stand out in these cases, be noticeable. And yet....here we are.

^ This. It’s not on the team to help you make the team. Play well and make the darned team.

Have you watched every single minute of every game? Just curious. The guy had a pretty good season last year numbers wise, I'm aware he didn't get a contract and is on a PTO, nor i'm suggesting that anything be handed to him, but whats the point of bringing him in if your going to saddle him up with 4th liners and another PTO in Eakins every scrimmage/game? Even if its just for one period, play him with top 9 line mates, the team specifically said their was an opportunity in the top 9 yet he's been playing with 4th liners every game. Hopefully he brings it tonight.

That is the point.
He's a PTO. Why should he be gifted time with top line players?
Again, he's started where he should be. Its not the Flames fault if he can't stand out, its his. Like I said, make a great pass, even if the guy its going to is a dud and can't finish anything. If he "deserves" time, even as a trial, with our top players, he should easily be able to stand out in his current group to show that, shouldn't he?

Isn’t that no different than calling a player up from the AHL? You call up a player that stands out and deserves a shot in the NHL. He should stand out on an AHL line.

Stone should be playing top pair with Weegar to have a chance at proving himself instead of being saddled with #8 Ds.

It’s like saying, “I’m not very good at my job, but it’s not my fault. I need to be surrounded by top-notch coworkers to succeed.” Great coworkers help, sure, but they can’t do the work for you.

Milano has been good considering the circumstances though...now lets see how he does with better players.
some of you are acting like he has dropped the ball but he has been one of the better forwards in the two games he played.
Ruzicka is playing with Huberdeau tonight, obviously that isn't where he slots in this season but they want to see what he can do.

I think you’re right on Milano as he hasn’t been terrible. But considering the position he is applying for most want him to stand out a bit more.

Milano is good when he is set up in the offensive zone, but he isn't going to drive a line. Nothing wrong with that, as it describes most players. But yeah, he probably sinks or swims based on who his line mates are. Give him a good center and puck carrier, and you can probably get some mileage out of him. Play him with scrubs, and he probably has no value.

I think Phillips has staked his claim to a spot more effectively than Milano.

He was brought in because he was told their is a spot in the top 9. I'm not against Sutter making him work his way up throughout training camp but still feel he needs to be given at least one opportunity with one of our top three centres before camp is over.
Expecting him to be a world beater playing with kids and predominantly 4th line guys seems pointless to me. Milano isn't the kind of player that can run his own line, hes a skilled complimentary piece playing with a good centre. Its why he played with Zegras last year. To not give him even a small look with those guys doesn't make sense to me.
