There might be dragons or hippogriffs or Mr. Tumnus or... whatever the case may be out there, but since I'm not a wide-eyed ten-year-old with a Turkish delight addiction, I want no truck with any of it. I certainly have no interest in living in such remote, far flung areas, thoroughly unexplored by any civilized right-thinking people. I don't even want to be associated with such people. If you live out there and you're having a party or whatever, I'm not coming. If you're my friend and you move there, well, it's been nice knowing you but you're now dead to me (and possibly literally due to aforementioned dragons).

My advice is simple: don't become one of those people. Don't risk it.
Enjoy your shoebox apartment and overpriced chic restaurants. I'll be over here with my yard, driveway, attached garage, multiple bedrooms and soulless reasonably-price chain restaurants.

That budget might be rough for a detached home, but for a townhouse with 3 rooms (master, kid, guest room), I think it might be doable with some decent money left over.

Yeah no interest in condo/townhouse living for us, not yet at least. Maybe we will when we are too old and decrepit to handle yard maintenance and have given up on life, lol.

LOL.

Well technically we will be filling an already existing structure, so no worries about us contributing to further Calgary sprawl. You can thank us in advance for being the types that are actively caring for their home and will hopefully make Cgy a better place. ;-)
(we have seen way too many neglected homes in some really nice areas)

Nah man, I just thought it would be funny.

Realistically since you're already seemingly Calgary-dependent, removing you from a parasite community in the first place seems for the best.

People are allowed to come here but they have to live outside the ring road and exclusively eat at Boston Pizza.

Renfrew? I grew up in Tuxedo. I couldn't wait to move out so I left at 18. Moved out of the city all together in 1995 and haven't looked back.
