Seriously, if a kid isn't prepared to decide whether he should drink or have sex when in his mid teens, how is he prepared to decide on one of the greatest questions in the universe?

Who says he's not prepared to make decisions about alcohol and sex at that age? I was certainly prepared to make those decisions at that age. Not just prepared ... I made them. And I'm preparing my kids to make those decisions for themselves at that age too.

I confirmed around 12, and i really didnt have that great of a grasp about it to tell you the truth (most of it was in another language anyway, one in which I didnt really understand a lot of the big words, ha) I did it cause it was sort of was just expected along the route from my parents...it definitely wasn't because of some huge spiritual decision that I made.

Doesn't mean that I dont believe in god (I do) but Im not sure I would go through that route today...as I dont really think you being in touch with god has anything to do with massive ceremonial passages. That part to me just feels like the church trying to control their flock.

Which is precisely why I mentioned that my post will obviously be biased being a Catholic myself.

I'm not saying you can't, its just that the religion takes it very seriously if u decide to back out of ur faith after being confirmed.

Ford, I agree that people that age are capable of making decisions about sex and alcohol (although not necessarily about sex and alcohol). I was just playing devils advocate and making fun of the fact that we canadians are prepared to make decisions that allegedly affect eternity, but not decisions that merely affect the next day or few years.

I'm not defending the woman's reaction. The whole thing just looked and sounded like a set-up. He was wearing sunglasses for crying out loud. It seems a little suspicious to me that he would make sure had his shades on before getting into this serious discussion with his mother. Even Corey Hart would have at least put them up on his head.

Alright... I'm gonna slowly back out of this thread. We disagree about the thing being a set up and the only reason I mentioned your name is because I've never seen you get ferocious about something that you have no proof or reasonable doubt. I sort of saw it as a backhanded compliment.

Thats not necessarily an indication these days. I dont know what it's like in Calgary, but here there are so many try-hards who wear their shades inside a dark subway car or anywhere indoors. i usually wanna smack em off their faces....same goes for the tools who wear toques indoors.

Oh you are right, I don't have any proof. I probably shouldn't be making these accusations without something to back them up.

Did anyone else feel kind of dirty watching this video? The God Warrior actively sought out the attention, but this woman thought she was having a private family discussion and now millions of people have access too it.

Baptism is just after birth, confirmation is done in early adolescence (sp?).
