I look forward to the moment Campbell goes on a bit of a hot streak, that Oiler fans start yelling from the rooftops that he is better than Markstrom.

And then the inevitable hangover when he struggles, and they start roasting him over an open flame.

I think its pretty telling Toronto is willing to take on Matt Murray for the same price over Campbell.

I look forward to the moment, where Campbell falters and the Oilers pay millions in cosmetic surgery on Smith to make him look like Campbell so he can take his place, not only on the ice, but with Campbell's family as well.

Meanwhile Campbell wakes up in a cellar with a poop bucket a moldy mattress and the moldering corpse of Mike Comrie who Kevin Lowe had killed out of spite.

As a matter of fact, the league routinely investigates every case where LTI-retired players end up on a team's payroll. There has been at least one case where the league ordered the team to tear up the ex-player's new deal and pay him a market rate.

The CBA is quite explicit on that point.

I would say they aren't doing a great job then. These seem pretty obvious. Guessing some stacks of cash were placed on the Katz'ing couch.

I think they do it if enough teams complain as that's what happened with Kucherov but I have not heard that they do it in all instances.

I think I read a few weeks back the NHL blocked Ben Bishop from working in the Dallas front office, while being on the Sabers roster.

Last season Campbell admitted to having a mental block when his play suffered for 6 weeks. He was putting too much pressure on himself.

Oilers fans and media legitimately think Campbell plus a full season with Woodcroft makes them true contenders. When, not if, when his play falters and the pressure mounts from fans and media alike, he'll crumble.

Additionally, without the puck-handling ability of Mike Smith, the Oilers defence will have to retrieve more pucks. Even Koskinen handled the puck often as the Oilers defense had the goalie collecting dump-ins and making the first outlet to the corner, hash marks, or blue line. With Campbell they won't have that ability as his puck handling is average at best, so an already weak defense will he forced to work harder to collect pucks and get them put of there zone.

So a weak defense that's going to spend more time in their zone, coupled with a goalie that buckles under pressure, and by January Campbell is going to be public enemy #1 in Edmonton.

Coiler fans in 6 months.... "Campbell's useless, he can't even pass the puck! That's the only reason we're losing!"

...and their backup isn't as advertised. He can't even score goals with the likes of McDavid and Draisaitl on his team!

Man I love a good goalie goal.

When was the last time one was scored in the NHL?

I have a theory that Dubas going into his final year wasn’t allowed to give Campbell a long term contract and had to find someone for a year or two, as to not lock in the next new GM with an awful goalie.

I like my theory better:

Edmonton is no good.

No one can save the Oilers.

Not even the Littlest Hobo can save the Oilers.

No one can.

Don’t worry Jay, Harvey has the antidote to put down that poisonous Coiler locker room.
