I think the team does seem too casual sometimes. They are a fun team, and I think they play better when they are a little loose. But there's a difference between being lose because you are confident and being loose because you are casual.
The effort is inconsistent amongst the young players. Guys like Springer and Chapman set the tone with their consistency and approach but I think Buck is right that it is tougher for veterans and coaches to hold players accountable. And ultimately guys like Vladdy and Teo and Bo should be evolving to be the actual leaders on this team, meaning they are the ones setting the tone and holding each other accountable.

I do question if this team has the right make-up to win a championship. I suspect this year will be important to give them a taste of what the post-season is like. And then we will see which of the players have it in them to take that next step.

Well, the good news is that SEA and BAL both lost as well.

Magic numbers to finish ahead of each team:

TBR: 7
SEA: 6

BAL: 2

The Jays can clinch a playoff spot today with a win plus an O's loss.

Lets just hope they can clinch 1st WC before the last game so Manoah can start gm1 at home.

4-2 in the next 6 would hopefully do it.

The notion that Manoah wouldn't start game 1 regardless seems totally insane to me but I guess I'm not a baseball genius?

Yeah wasting Manoah to push for home field advantage seems crazy...until you think about the ambitions of Rogers to make money with the extra home gate revenue

if the options are:

Manoah starts but they play at the Trop
or
No Manoah but the team doesn't go to that house of horrors

I'm taking the latter. Gausman > Stripling > pray for no game three.

This is fair too - the teams history at the Trop has to play a role in the decision.

Plus the fact the Jays got swept in Seattle this season probably didn't help either. Althou looking like no way Mariners get WC1 now inless they win out.

Huge game where you could potentially clinch a playoff spot? Send out Mitch White.

Organizational failure top to bottom that THIS is the guy they got at the deadline and the guy they're forced to send out there.

They might as well had a bullpen day over starting White. Just horrible.

Who are the starting pitchers in Buffalo? Gotta think any one of them would be a better choice than White.

Also - Stop walking Judge. Grow a pair and get him out . Some situations call for it but you can’t be putting him leading off innings every time . 6 of last 7 ABs he’s walked .
