Didn't we help the UCP by not voting for Notley in the last election?

So they voted her out so that we would get stuck with the federal carbon tax instead and for the UCP to make minor amendments to the changes they implemented with bill 6? Seems kinda unlikely but it’s plausible. I kinda thought people voted them out because out of frustration from the collapse in oil and gas people somehow thought the UCP would produce better results. We all know how that ended up.

I supposed nobody conceived of how bad the UCP would be. Although, it wouldn’t take a political scientist to go back and figure it out. Kenney historically was and still is a horrible person.

I kinda chuckle when people who voted for the UCP the last time around say they can’t vote for them again, as if they didn’t make what they were going to do very clear during the last campaign. The only real credit I can give to the UCP is that they followed through on what they said they were going to do, problem is that I strongly disagreed with the overwhelming majority of their policies from the outset.

I guess the NDP will have to hope that farmers and rural Albertans have short memories.

Every major party is technically a socialist party so unless you don’t ever vote for any of them I think you may just be using a fear mongering buzzword that you clearly don’t understand the meaning of.

Yikes, I guess this is a gear grinder. People would rather the province be in shambles because they don't like the NDP lol.
I don't like the UCP but I will help them stay in power by voting anything but NDP.

Safe to say a lot of people didn't even know their policies at all, they just voted against Notley without knowing what they were voting for
I wish Greg Clark would come back to politics

Most farmers probably aren’t going to change their stance no matter what, the same as most business owners and investment class constituents won’t.
Just because these groups can afford to spend a lot of money lobbying the government and swaying public opinion doesn’t mean those policies were as disastrous as they’re trying to portray them as being. It’s the same old song and dance every time any policy is being implemented that costs them money.

For me this is like the question: would you rather die by drowning or in a bear attack?

The UCP was pretty transparent in what they were going to do and how they were going to do it.
'Here's a ####ty and generally unpopular policy to everybody except our religious base or our cronies we need to do some favors for. You're going to ignore that it's ####ty because of 'Jobs, Economy, Pipelines', and we are going to ram it through as quickly as we can without consultation because we were given a mandate and that's how we create momentum.'
And that's what they did.

I must have missed Notley’s speech where she advocated that the workers should seize the means of production.

Coming right out of downtown? I wonder if Centre is actually the easiest grade, the hills are brutal on the bluff and you'd have to deviate quite a bit west or east for those pathways. Still a bold move, why not stay on the sidewalk?
