I also liked Bishop's game. No idea who he is or where he came from but I liked his game last night. Him and Dueher worked well together.

Love Klapka but man that was a bad fight. Poor kid.

Originally Bishop was a Canes 5th rounder. Never had great production even in junior and his AHL production has always been very low. Then bounced to the Sens and similar results there. But he has 47 NHL games. A guy that you can call up and plug into a 4th line role in a pinch but that's about all.

That was one hell of a game last night from Phillips. I think his size is going to make it difficult for him to earn a regular NHL roster spot in the long run. Nobody wants that to be the case but I don’t feel any confidence that it won’t.

Phillips is the real deal, have said it from the end of his draft +1 and have continued to honk that horn because even though his size is a disadvantage everything else in his game isn’t. He does everything the right way and has at every level, the consummate pro and I feel that even if he doesn’t manage to crack a full time NHL lineup with the flames he will with another team, I have zero doubts about that.

How about Huberdeau Lewis Dube

Huey Louie and Dewey. Plus Sutter as Scrooge McDuck.

Really like to see that Pelletier-Ruzicka-Klapka line became a thing in practice.
Pelletier and Ruzicka fit well together as a duo in terms of playstyle and Klapka adds another player with solid skating and great size.

Does anyone know which players will have to pass through waivers this year? I know Valimaki is one of them. Do Ruzicka and/or Phillips also have to pass through waivers to be sent down to the Wranglers?

The waiver exempt players have a green down arrow in the "terms" column.

In short, Ruzicka, Mackey, Phillips, and Valimaki all have to be waived. Klapka does not.

2 way vs 1 way does not matter in determining waiver exemption.

It all depends on how old the player was when they first signed a NHL contract and how many years it has been since they signed their first NHL contract and how many NHL games played.

That doesn’t impact waivers, only really pay at the NHL and AHL levels. This year he has an AHL salary, next year he gets paid NHL dollars no matter where he plays.

Thanks. It’s interesting the factors that are play with guys making the team or getting sent down this time of year. Seems like one of them is betting on which players are likely to get claimed off the waiver wire. Wonder which player on that list would have the biggest risk of being claimed… still can’t help but worry about losing a good player to waivers after losing Byron a few years ago because the flames signed Mason Raymond.

And because a Montreal Canadien was injured in a car accident the night that Bryon was put on waivers. Dumb luck, somewhat.

Zack Kassian to be precise, and he was suspended and placed in the NHL's substance abuse program.
I only mention this because the Oilers couldn't wait to scoop him up and add him to their roster. E=NG.
