The guy that carried the team the last 5 yrs has less intensity than a career AHLer?
I said it to Bait your enormous brain. Oh and BTW ....#### off.
Never seen a poster more ready to piss people off than you just for kicks so a double #### off.
Phillips has busted his ass. Yes he is not #13 . Also this is a MFing message board if you don't agree then put me on ignore ffs.
Having to explain my opinion whilst beating the f ING horse deader than dead to you every time......the last thing g you want from me is my complete and undivided F ing attention.
I don't really think Phillips has thr slightest chance with both Milano and Eakin in camp. One or both are better than prospects still trying to earn a spot on the roster and Darryl has said as much about every other prospect .
There.....there's my post you fabulous cluster ####

Yeah, that's just ridiculous. Comparing Phillips to Gaudreau is only going to set you up for disappointment. The hope is that he can be a fit in a middle-six (likely a third-line) NHL role at some point, not be a superstar. Gotta temper expectations.

You should probably step away from the internet for a couple hours.

I don't think you can find a single person who won't cheer for Phillips. You will find plenty of people questioning him, but I doubt there will be any cheering against him. I hope the kid takes every opportunity he can during camp and forces his way onto the team.
I don't want to put words in IronMaiden's mouth, but what I think he means by 'pedestrian' is when comparing Phillips at similar ages to other prospects that came through the Flames' system, Phillips hasn't been as productive. Dube, Mangiapane, Ruzicka, Pelletier - they have each out-produced Phillips given their respective ages. I happen to agree with that assessment - based on what his usage is likely to be in the NHL, he needs to be offensively better. However, the caveat here is that sometimes you can translate that better in the NHL than in the AHL. I guess we will see.
Byron is the best comp I can think of actually. Byron became more of a PK/defensive player, but coming out of Junior he was just as offensively gifted as Phillips. In their D+2 seasons, they both led their respective teams by a bunch of points.
They both had issues translating their offence off the get-go. Phillips has been better in the last few seasons than Byron did offensively, which is good to see, but Byron already had a lot of NHL games too by now, and his game shifted to that of a PK/defensive player. That's how he found his niche in the NHL and never looked back.
What will Phillips' niche be? Top 6 scorer? Checking defensive forward? I guess we will see. The good thing is that Phillips has the same tenacity as Byron showed. HockeyDB heights and weights can never be trusted, but he looks smaller than what Byron looked like at the time. Either way, I hope he takes any and all opportunities and runs with it.
At the very least, I am glad that this organization continues to reward players who work hard and earn opportunities. Phillips has earned it with how hard he has worked and how he hasn't complained even once. Way better character than the likes of JD Watt from back in the day (I think it was him anyway that complained about not getting a shot, even though he sucked ass).
Plus, local guys are always easier to cheer for too. I am keeping my expectations low, but hoping for the best with this kid.

Boohoo. An internet forum isn't real life. You can stop being bombarded at any time you choose.
Stop taking the internet and this message board so seriously before you stroke out.
Speak for yourself! My career, family, and friends are all just diversions from making unhinged comments on an internet board about a professional sports team that isn't in the city in live in.
My take? Despite some spelling and grammar mistakes, I like Everlast's overall structure. Succinct introduction, body, and conclusion. Gets his point across clearly. Use of animal metaphors is particularly creative. Finally, he threads that rare needle in writing of using a verb as a noun right at the end there.
8.5/10

EVERLAST might be having a bad day, but I agree- I don’t see Phillips making the team any time soon, at least as long as Sutter is the coach. I like the player, and I’m cheering for him, but he’s behind the eight-ball in this organization.

Phillips impressed the hell out of me. Not just that great pass but his compete level and willingness to go to the dirty areas. I liked his game and if he doesn't make it out of camp he has put him self on the radar for the first round of call ups.
I also liked Bishop's game. No idea who he is or where he came from but I liked his game last night. Him and Dueher worked well together.
Love Klapka but man that was a bad fight. Poor kid.
