I don't think that was George Rusic. Scott Rintool was the host of the old SN650/960 mid-morning show.

can we define salary for a morning show radio guy?
I am thinking $80k to $90k for a guy in a lead spot like Boomer was - maybe $65 for a full time side-kick.
I'd consider $90k a decent salary, but you are likely going to need your spouse to work as well if you have 2.5 kids a two minivans and a home etc

And also explained he isn't a Flames fan, knows nothing about them but "looks forward to learning".
So a few hundred thousand Flames fans should now tune in to a guy who knows nothing and still has to "learn"???
Why should I spend 2 seconds listening to an easterners viewpoints out west in the first place? The last broadcaster I want hear hails from the Center of the Universe. We know neither Boomer or Warrener did.

I'll still give the new guys a chance. I don't think geography of where the person is from should be a knock against them. Most of the radio guys in the past aren't from Calgary either. It will be the content that will make me decide whether to stay tuned in or not. I'm a pretty easy sell though. Talk about the Flames, have interesting takes, and have good guests on, and I'm willing to forgive a lot of newbie growing pains. To be honest, the only guy I couldn't stand listening to was Nault, and he's gone.

Of all the previous staff, I would say Boomer was the least knowledgeable “sports guy” on the station. Boomer brought the worldly contributions, anecdotes, bits and guests. He kept the show flowing and brought out the best in the interviews, this is what Rusic’s role will be, while Rose will be the Flames expert. Boomer Pinder and Warrener all admitted to opting out of attending games, fell asleep during games or outright forgot there was a game.
And honestly if a “few hundred thousands” Flames fans tuned in, they’d have the biggest market share in the city.

Thats the spirit! Afterall, homegrown talent like Will Nault goes over so well, that why should they bring in an experienced radio guy?
Trust me, Rusic is good. He has an awesome sense of humor, and can carry the show. I am really excited that this is the choice to start fresh with.
