There are eight of them in this house ranging from 12 to 30 in, and the cost to replace them with maple or non-plastic ones is just ridiculous. So I'm thinking of painting them white.

Don't use a brush, it'll look like crap. I don't have hands on experience but I've seen some of the outcomes. Some form of spray on paint should look decent. No idea if you'd need to prepare the vent prior to spraying (although I assume you'd at least have to do a basic cleaning).

Anybody have a good place to source bathroom vanities, other than Home Depot, Lowes or Wayfair?
I'm finding the quality/price/ selection to be pretty lacking at those places.

Like just cash n carry? Your options are limited. HD has custom Thomasville stuff that is very nice. Otherwise go custom. Ikea might be good too.

If you're willing to wait a bit there's a few places in town that have better quality stuff "ready to assemble" as it were.
e.g. http://www.cupboardsexpress.com/
(I have no idea how good this company is, just did a googles search).

Grrr, I have been waiting for a while for my shower doors, the last piece I need to have a functioning shower in my bathroom reno.
Ordered from Serenity Bath Boutique, which I’m strongly suspecting has gone out of business.
I have a deposit with them, any thoughts on the best way to try to get my money back?

Are you outside of the charge back window with your credit card? Otherwise you might have to get in lien as a creditor.

It might be ok, talked to the landlord today, and it sounds like it might just be a problem with the edmonton location, not the Calgary one.

Ring makes a great combo smoke/CO alarm. you can have it actively or passively monitored. I have 3 in my house, it's great. Shows batt life, etc.
I am not sure they are approved in Canada for some reason, but I bought them out of the US and had them shipped up here. Nice to know if it senses CO2 it will call the fire dept for me (part of my monthly ring alarm monitoring fee - not sure it'd be worth it for the active monitoring if you don't have ring cams/alarm).
Love the ring, ecobee and Lutron ecosystems... I have so many automations built running through them, either using my iphone, homebridge, or even IFTTT as a fall back.
Edit: This is the one I have 3 of: https://ring.com/products/first-aler...arm-combo-gen2

Would having a smoke detector not approved in Canada be a problem for insurance?
Do you have any Ring exterior cameras? Been thinking of putting in an exterior camera but ecobee doesn't have an exterior one. My neighbour likes his Nest but not sure if I want to get into Nest stuff.

It’s not a CO2 alarm, it’s a CO alarm (carbon monoxide). Also don’t buy life safety equipment that’s not approved in Canada, for lots of reasons.

On shower doors I got the Ove base and shower doors at Costco for $599 and love it.
Word of advice though which I learned the hard way.
Do NOT store the doors flat.
I had one on its side against the wall and the other flat on the floor in a spare room. In original packaging.
When I came back ready for install it had exploded into hundreds of pieces. Thankfully Ove were painless to deal with and shipped out a new door.
Was then I learned storing large pieces of glass flat is a big no no.

Whoops re: CO2...
They just hadn't received formal approval when I ordered a few years ago - they are approved now, and available from CDN retailers: https://www.aartech.ca/1044817/first...-co-alarm.html

I have 4 external Ring cameras, the full alarm, and the flood freeze sensors, water sensors, and the aforementioned CO/Fire monitors. Awesome system, I love it.

First Alert has been in Canada for years, and their stuff is way better than that Kiddie garbage you see everywhere.

That's about 72% farther than I got on my stair railings.

Does that mean you can take 80% of a shower?

I was annoyed by the quality of vanities locally and I randomly stumbled on this website searching on google. They have amazing reviews and they’re legit. We ordered our basement bathroom vanity from them recently. They twice sent extra parts at no charge and the vanity is solid wood and amazing quality. Highly recommended.

I’ll post a picture tomorrow from my PC.
