Who cares what that little snivellus says anymore. He's always been a grandstander. And now that he's not on our team, you can be sure that we can no longer trust a damn word out of his mouth on anything.
Personally I think Tkachuk-Barkov-Reinhart has potential to be one of the best lines in the league this year. The rest of that team will suffer though. Their bottom 6 looks very weak. But largely I don't care about a team we will play once.

Just listened to an interview with Tkachuk on NHL Sirius.
No shortage of confidence that’s for sure.

I said I know what he is doing and I'm not losing any sleep over it...it was posted on a message board so I'm discussing it.
He has also seen Makar and Nate play and more importantly play when it actually mattered.
Today when Darryl was asked to compare Tkachuk and Taffoli he said "one has two cups and long playoff runs"
It's certainly quote season and let's not pretend players and management on all sides don't have a chip on their shoulders.

Those lines are a continuation of last year's pairs without any real attempt to realign the lineup with the new additions. Lots of placeholders (Balcers on the top line? Yeah, right) and none of those lines will see opening day. Here's how I see it:
Tkachuk-Barkov-Duclair (Reinhart or White as placeholder for Duclair's injury)
Verhaeghe-Bennett-Reinhart
Cousins-Lundell-White
Lomberg/Balcers-Luotsarinen/E. Staal-Hornqvist
Forsberg-Ekblad
Montour-Gudas
Carlsson/Del Zotto-M. Staal
Bobrovsky/Knight
It doesn't look so bad when you put the lines together right. I do think they need a proper top 4 defender though. Both Montour and Gudas are playing a little too high for my liking. Pushing either of them down in the lineup will help even things out.
Alternately for the top 6:
Verhaeghe-Barkov-Reinhart
Tkachuk-Bennett-Duclair
Wouldn't surprise me at all to see Lundell steal the 2nd line center position before the year is out.

probably back by the new year from what I can tell. Can't find any recent updates. Everything I've read says "mid season".

It was the reverse Dion trade. When the names starting to trickle out you it felt like daggers into the heart. This time around it was like WTF I can't believe they traded all that for Tkachuk.
Tkachuk loves to talk and hear himself speak. He never backs it up.

If we sign Weeger, this is the reverse Doug Gilmour trade.

My guess is Tkachuk comments are more because he wants to be on the top line. He didn't stop sulking with the Flames until he was given topline minutes. Kind of goes along with the idea he wanted to be the Flames captain, but I bet every guy in that dressing room remembered that he didn't show up the year before. Tkachuk jockeying for a spot next to Barkov.

I actually disagree with you.
I have always felt that Tkachuk coming from a Professional Hockey family was predictable. He's a mercenary.
He will give you what you pay him to give you. No more. No less. Hence my consistent assertion that he is not 'Captain Material.'
He has it all now. He is paid. Job done. Top line, third line, I dont think he cares anymore. He'll still perform, of course, because he's probably got at least one more contract in him, but he is in this for the life and the money and he's already gotten the vast majority of what he's going to get.

Very cool that the 2 teams you like made such a big trade. Intriguing to say the least.

We can disagree, you make some valid points, but I view him more as sn opportunist. We will see how it plays out. If.him and Bennett don't click it makes the trade look bad, and they likely get shuffled up or down.

He did what he had to do which was Cash in on his NHL Career.
He'll have earned in excess of $100M in career earnings after this contract no matter what.
Like I said, 'Job Done.'
What Florida choose to do with him in terms of where he slots in the roster? I dont particularly care. But, he does seem to be a consummate professional so I think he'll give you what he's paid to give you.

I think its fair to say even Tkachuk thought it was highly unlikely he would repeat last season especially with Gaudreau gone and found a way to cash in and move to what he thought would be a much better team
At the time he made the call the Flames weren't looking so hot...deep down I bet even he was surprised with the return and then you throw Kadri in and its a deeper team, on paper anyway.
