So now that Russia's mobilizing, what excuse can Olaf Scholz use to not give Ukrainians more heavy weapons and Leopard 2 tanks now?
Time for NATO to dial up the weapons shipments to Ukraine including those long range ATACMS missiles for the HIMARS/MLRS.

If NATO does that then they have to march to Moscow and finish it. Big problem is that soldiers (Army, Navy, AF...whatever) have to believe in something to fight for and if they don't then short/medium/long range artillery takes over, which is a huge problem. Example: What does the soldier of India have to fight for? To protect his/families life in poverty?

For any Canadians thinking of taking a beach holiday please keep in mind Cuba has voted against Zelensky addressing the UN General Assembly via video among 6 other nations including Syria, Russia and North Korea.

Went there a few years ago, tonnes of Russians there vacationing in Varadero at our resort too, including a wedding. Can tell it's still fairly tight relations between the 2 countries obviously.

With any luck, this will increase animosity at the street level. It's going to be more difficult to be indifferent and bury your head in the sand when the people in your neighbourhood start coming home in bags.
If there was any justice, they should start by looking at people's social media profiles and if they posted things in support of the war, conscript them first. Of course it won't happen that way.
Things are going to get worse before they get better, but I am hoping this announcement means that the Putin regime is now in the throws of death.

Someone needs to start putting up posters of Putin with a little square mustache in public squares so the average Russian citizen starts making the association.

Yup, I'll admit I ####ed that up recently. Last month the wife and I booked a trip there for January next year with some of my family for a family getaway. Saw the UN voting list a few days ago and immediately felt shame , especially with how much venting I have done in this thread.

I was there over Christmas just weeks before the invasion.
You're in a very different situation, for me I'd say 'dont take out your frustration on the Cubans.'
Whereas its also not the average 'Russian on the Street's' fault either, you're going to probably run into a lot of Russians in Cuba, I dont know how thats going to feel for you.
The actual people dont have a whole hell of a lot of control regarding the direction of their nations.

Major traffic on roads leading from Moscow. Many people flee, it seems. Some reports of street protest, but nothing major so far.

Yeah, my wife knows about the UN vote and kind of shrugged it off. We've been to plenty of places with Russian tourists (pre-war) and she actually finds comfort in hearing her language. She's already said she doesn't care if Russians are there with us, as long as they don't start confronting her if they find out where she is from. There will be a bunch of my family with us, so not too worried about it. Also her 1st time being to the Caribbean and is looking forward to it immensely. Just...disappointing to hear of Cuba's decision, but not surprising given decades of a useless embargo.

I wonder at what point Russia just starts revoking passports.

China vs Taiwan?....we are talking a different fight, invading soldiers/infantry vs a naval/air battle then troops...
Simpler solution...I can think of about 7 bullets in brains that would do the world a lot of good.

The Ukrainians are the undeniable victims in this conflict. They've done nothing to deserve the circumstances that are being foisted upon them.
I guess I just dont want huge swathes of people being painted with a very broad brush and I admit I have a soft spot in my heart for Cuba and I dont feel its fair for the Cubans to be painted with that brush by unfortunate association.
I also hope that in some way the Russians can rehabilitate their international reputation and become productive and friendly members of our global civilization rather than crazy boogeymen, but that hope is premature at the moment. We have to end this nonsense first.

Video shows an unconscious Russian protester being carried away by riot police. The powder keg is going to explode sooner than later over there if sights like this begin surfacing in greater frequency. Only a matter of time.
