So my tire bead is starting to go and I got my first flat on my Radwagon yesterday. I was about 4kms from home loaded down with my son and some tools lol. Had to call my wife for the rescue pickup!
Now researching a replacement tire is turning up a bit tough. Radwagon recently did a recall of their tires for these bikes so I can’t get a manufacturer replacement at the moment.
The depths of Reddit reveal that some motorcycle tires can be used as a replacement.
Question: does anybody know of a motorcycle tire outfit here in the city? Who would I speak with?

What are the tire dimensions? You should be able to find it at a bike shop or online. If Radwagon did a recall, will they send you 2 new ones for free?

Oh, I see they are a weird size and the wait from RAD is months for replacements. Hrmmm...

Yeah apparently a 2.75 x 18 will fit the rim. The fox online is out of Europe and getting that particular tire/something similar maybe tricky in N America just need to find the correct people to speak with.

Not sure which bike you have, but the ones I looked at on their site are 20 or 22". Is yours 18"?

Pretty much agree with this, it's all about the angle of your front light when you're on the pathways.

Yes it’s a 20x3”. The model is the Radwagon from radpower bikes.
Apparently at 18” x 2.75” tire will work in this rim. Guys have been getting some moped/motorcycle tires to work as a (stronger sidewall) replacement.
Another model recommended was a shinko241. It’s a knobby tire, as for now I think I’d like a road slick like the recommended Pirelli city demon.

Huh, weird an 18" tire would fit a 20" rim, but maybe motorcycle tires are measured differently? Good luck with the hunt, motorcycle shops are out of my wheelhouse!

Has anyone here bought carbon wheels from Aliexpress? I've been mulling this for awhile and it seems its gaining traction in the online cycling community.
Some of the companies selling on there are comparable or better quailty than name brands and you pay less than half.
Seems like a quickest way to get some weight savings.

Bought a "superteam" solid disk rear TT wheel, it's rim brake and the axle fits really tight into the frame. Performance wise it's fine, no issues with the hub.
That being said I've only ridden it 200-300km and I didn't buy it to save weight.
I think these are probably the most reputable "https://www.yoeleocanada.com/"
the wheels are getting better from China, used to be able to find some good deals on Chainreaction depending on rim/disc. Spending a little more at CR might give you more mental comfort

Disc https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/.../rp-prod166638
Rim https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/.../rp-prod166556
1500 grams and $850 is about as good as it gets if you are looking for deals

I was going to order tires from CRC but recent reviews mention poor shipping service and high courier fees. Has anybody bought from them recently that can share their experience?

I am in Fernie for the weekend.
Stopped in Starwood on the way here and rode around the golf course there. Then hit up montane when I got here.
Got back to the condo just as it started to rain. Lots of dark clouds in the sky….but forecast shows less than 20% chance of rain they Sunday.
Trails were in nice shape prior to the rain. Came across a bear rooting around right near that ranch at the bottom of montane

Buyer beware on Aliexpress. A lot of it is fake garbage.

Fernie this past weekend was awesome. Spent about 2.5 hrs yesterday riding ridge mount and did not see another rider.
Surpring how warm 6 degrees in late September can be when there is no wind and you are peddaling uphill
I was hoping to stop in Blair more this morning, but my legs were wobbly

What's everyone's favorite bike shop lately? I've heard lots of negative reviews of The Bike Shop in downtown recently from folks and also r/Calgary.
I've also noticed a few mom & pop's show up around town recently rather than the big 4 (Ridleys, Bike Shop, Bow Cycle, Calgary Cycle) Are there any good ones to help with an overhaul for winter? I noticed one called Calgary Bicycle Repair near SunAlta station recently and one called RIDE on 42nd.
I couldn't resist my lack of self control and I picked up this 2015 Jamis Renegade Expert just a few minutes ago because I got a major deal on it because it needs an overhaul. I noticed some internal cables are fraying and I plan to replace the stem, cassette, and fix a bunch of other things but I've never done much bike work before.
https://www.bikeradar.com/reviews/bi...ed_slideshow=1
I've learned a bunch from the Park Tools YouTube and I have a decent set of tools. Replacing the internal cables and some rusted parts may be out of my league however, so if I need to take it to a bike shop, who would you recommend? My plan is to turn this into a winter bike I don't care about getting muddy or crashing because the paint on the carbon is already roughed up from the previous owner who did a lot of gravelling.

The Bike Shop South (and Central) I feel like just another ant in line to get my stuff fixed. It's just huge queues in and out the door all the time. I was hoping one of the smaller ones might be a more personal experience. I'm sure that will also get better at the big name bike shops as the season ends and demand is quieter.
I've been to Bike & Brew a lot, if only to have some coffee while waiting for a minor service but this new bike is looking like a major project.

ALL ABOARD!

Ride on 42nd is a good shop. I’ve brought a bike in there. They are small though and focus on repairs. They have a few bikes for sale and some parts.
I like have a one-stop shop for all parts and accessories. I mostly shop and get repairs at The Bike Shop South because they have a list of all the repairs I’ve done on my bikes. They know the parts I’ve purchased. It also helps that I get a friends and family discount there.
