Apparently one of the Oilers prospects said something along the lines of “thats the Flames top prospects? It was like playing a beer league team. Apparently the future is not bright in Calgary.” That was after the game against them, so not surprised our guys came out better this game.

What? It was a comment about how he’s lost a bit of confidence…..

No first round pick in 2022, 2021 1st rounder is at school.

I mean, we shouldn't really be surprised. This organization has a bottom-quarter prospect pool.

That has apparently already been debunked as an Oiler troll making up comments. There is evidence that this person has created comments related to Matthews and others to get people worked up.

It would be exceptionally on-brand for an Oilers prospect to believe that meaningless prospect scrimmages that aren't even part of the preseason but are part of rookie development camps, mean that they are a good team or good players.
These games are useless. No one cares or should care about the outcome of these games, which are glorified practice scrimmages with no outcomes. Feel some shame if you believe that these matter at all.

I mean, let's be real. The Flames prospect base is not the strongest it's been in recent years. There's little to no high end talent (even less without Coronato playing here), and our best showing at this tournament was the goalie, Wolf. It's not like they were playing against stacked farm systems in these other teams, but the point stands.

			Players I loved
Klapka - A strong skater, with decent puck control for his size. He drove the play often creating good offense. I also liked how keen he was to use his size, looked like he tried to finish every check, and was not afraid to answer the bell for it ( or well atleast tried to)

Kuznetsov - He was strong on both bluelines. Smart with the puck, lots of high percentage passes. Likewise, when he was forced he showed good puck handling to move safely away from pressure.

Pelletier - Not a flashy player, but he plays with really great habits. He plays into the hard areas. Another player who was strong on the puck, even when he lost it he was hard to move past. Also really liked his decision making with the puck, tending towards high percentage passes. Hard to say if he is strong enough for the NHL, but he is an excellent checking forward and will be a middle six player at some point.

 Players I liked

Zary - it is obvious that Zary has heaps of skill, he moves really well with the puck, and has great offensive tendencies. That said, I am un sure on his decision making. Lots of puck possession. That said, lots of it was perimeter plays, or ended in flustered passes. I don't know how well that translates in the next level, but it looked good against rookie team defense.

Porier - Same as Zary, tons of skill. Not sure about how it is being used. I think both players could be great, but won't push for a roster spot this camp.

Duher- Man this guy can move. If he can get some trust in his own zone, he would make a great energy player. That said, I don't think he has the skill to move past the 4th line.

It's more just that anything can happen in 3 games with teams that have never played together. You're evaluating individual players' skill sets, results overall don't particularly matter.

I mean the Canucks don't even have a first rounder on their roster and are missing 7 of their top 10 prospects at this thing and they've outscored their opposition 7-1 so far.

Agreed - bad gamble with the empty net to try and keep the puck in the Jets zone - lost the scramble and the pucks in the net. Could have easily taken the puck and regrouped but didnt make the safe play

I guess considering he is still a kid, he'll learn from his mistakes.
