What’s the Jays’s record post-Montoyo firing?

29–17 according to Schneider's Wiki.

Basically their hope is for a Jays level 1987 collapse against the Tigers and the only reason they have that hope is because they play the Jays at the end of the season (like Detroit did).
People also forget, the Jays beat the Tigers 3 out of 4 a week before the collapse too.

Be kind of hilarious if it was the Mariners that collapsed. Easiest schedule remaining.

Baseball-Reference has it as 37-21. Or a .631 W-L%. Pretty, pretty good for the big guy.

I don't know about playoff teams, but the Jays record is 39-42 against teams that are .500 or better.

Half of our 20 games above .500 is just from the Red Sox. We are roughly .500 against the other AL east teams. We have a winning record against Houston. Our two worst season series are Cleveland and Seattle, two teams we could face in the wild card.

I'm not too concerned about their record against Seattle because they got swept in Seattle during a big slump and right before Montoyo got fired.

Fangeaphs just did an analysis on this and determined that postseason success was not closely correlated to regular season splits like this. Thought that was interesting - it seems schedule does not matter as much as fans make it out to be.

Let's say the Os win the last 4 games against the Jays (including today). And let's also say the Jays go 6-6 in their other remaining 12 games. So 6-10 overall - pretty awful.
Even then, the Os would have to go 10-4, on top of the 4 Ws against the Jays, or 14-4 overall, to catch them
Can those things happen? Sure. The chances? Well, I wouldn't suggest betting on it.

If the Jays win today, and then go 8-7 the rest of the way, the Os would have to go 17-0 to catch them.

In other words, the Jays' magic number is currently 11 - any combination of Jays wins and Os losses that totals 11, puts the Jays in the playoffs (ignoring the White Sox and Twins)
And they can drop that by 2 with a W today.

Manoah's pitch count already pretty high.

It's so interesting watching Jansen hop around behind the plate in an effort to confuse the Orioles

The phrase 'injury prone' is way, way over-used by fans. But there are a few players for whom injuries just find them, over and over. Springer is the poster-child for that. He can't go 2 or 3 games without something happening to him.
