Lewis was just fine last year by and large but some of those penalties against the Oilers. Oof. I expected smarter play out of a vet like that.

Not a trade rumor, just a signing rumor.

If Dallas signs Robertson long term for $7.5- 7.8M.

Faksa for Kyllington - who says no.

Mackinnon should absolutely be the highest paid player in the league.

McDavid’s deal is how many years old at this stage?

Best way to get this deal done in my eyes? Go back to McDavid’s cap hit % when he signed his contract, and put that together. Done. There could even be an argument for more % based on the fact Mackinnon is now a proven winner.

McDavid’s deal: 16.67% of the salary cap when he signed it.

Mackinnon at 16.67% on a projected 83.5M cap: 13.92M AAV. Put in a kicker for winning the cup and call it a cool $14M.

We do.

Trading a young top 4D for a 4th line C that can play 3C is not good value.
Center is a position of strength. If we are trading Kylington, I'd hope its to upgrade our RW position.

I think the Flames strongly prefer trading with eastern teams

If we did trade with Dallas, I would hope for RW Dennis Gurianov. He's big, fast, and has a good shot. Consistency is an issue, but Sutter would fix that.

A 28 year-old 3/4C for a 25 year-old 3/4D? Are you just trying to strip Tree of his upcoming GM of the Year award?

It'd be wild to see MacKinnon go to free agency, but probably very unlikely

MacKinnon has been on record more than once saying he’d take a team friendly deal, I’d be surprised if his cap hit was that high.

But most recently it was reported that his camp is seeking for MacKinnon to become the highest paid player in the league. Friedman also reported it's expected that he will be with this contract.

It's kind of difficult because he is worth at least what McDavid is worth, but how many teams could actually offer that? I know a lot of teams would try to move heaven and Earth to make room for him, but it would be really hard to do. The open market for a player like that is uncharted territory and testing free agency could be risky.

When all is said and done, I suspect MacKinnon settles for a little less to stay in Colorado and avoid the risks. I'm guessing $12 million per on an 8 year deal front loaded as much as possible.

Just for ####s and giggles hypothetical question, if Nate became a UFA and would come to Calgary for the max contract (7 x 16.5), how many would say yes or no to that?
