I wonder if they noticed a spike in site visits from Calgary before choosing today’s movie…

This will likely be the only time I get the correct movie in one try. Maybe I should retire while I can style myself King of Film.

There's also Moviedle, which gives you a 1 second speedrun of the movie to guess from, and increases the length of the clip each time you guess wrong

https://likewisetv.com/arcade/moviedle

Somehow managed to guess today's on the 2nd try without actually ever having seen the movie

Sorry, we already proclaimed a new king for this week. We can't just be naming multiple kings in a week, that'd be madness. You'll have to stand by.

It took me the 3rd try and I got Cool Runnings. What was the first one with the Calgary airport? I assumed it was Cool Runnings but that was the 3rd one.

They were all Cool Runnings. You get a new frame from the movie with each wrong guess.

Watched Break Point again.

Kind of ridiculous, but so good. Such a vibe.

Maybe I'm going crazy but I swear I selected Cool Runnings on the first one as the age of the cars and the airport was kind of a giveaway.

Watched Barbarian last night. Had no idea what to expect going in. I loved both Bill Skarsgard and Justin Long in the film.

Would definitely recommend.

Watched Black Phone yesterday. Really a very good horror film. Acting was very good and it made my wife jump pretty good a couple of times. 7/10

Black phone is worth it just for the recreation of the 70s, they did such a great job, looked great.

Black Phone was very good.

It was a straight-forward, fairly simple premise that was executed brilliantly.

LOL, not a ####ing chance. That is a legendary film and spawned an entire new genre of comedy. You may not like it personally, but it's rated just fine and is also a very important historical film.

I kind of agree, it's not much as a film. It's still kind of fantastic.

I watched Speak No Evil last night. It was a pretty great suspenseful, thriller/horror movie. Lots and lots of tension builds up to a pretty crazy finish.

Just saw Vesper, a 2022 European (Lithuania, Belgium, France) biopunk-scifi.

It's got some very interesting, grimy and even creepy scifi, looks very nice and the actors are quite decent. I didn't feel much for the story, but it was perfectly enjoyable and I would warmly recommend it for scifi fans. (The film is all in English.)

Trailer:

Watching it in the 1980s? Maybe. Watching it today is cringey cliche. I couldn't even force a laugh after being told for years it is a top 10 comedy in the history of cinema.

Of course I've tried to watch Best in Show twice and turned it off after 10 minutes, so maybe Christopher Guest films just don't ring my bell.

Yup, because Best in Show is also superb.

I get it though, it's a very unique approach to comedy, and I find comedy to be easily the most subjective art form, so don't feel compelled to enjoy it.

I'm just saying, just because you didn't like it doesn't mean it's historical rating isn't appropriate.
