Five. Enjoy the game, don't like the league. Really don't like the sports talk surrounding the NFL, which seems to be 45% betting (which I don't do), 45% fantasy (which assumes you have in-depth knowledge of about 2,000 players' individual stats and career trajectories), and 10% actual football.
This is why I stopped watching. Love the game, played it in school, ran an NFL pool for 20 years. But I stopped watching because I can't stand how the coverage has morphed into these annoying talk shows and hype machines.
So make it 6

Man, I dont pay attention to any analysts when watching sports. I watch for the game itself, everything else is a commercial to me and I either zone out, grab a beer, or better yet, fast forward if it's recorded.
I think ALL televised sports now have a gambling slant, its just where its all heading.

That's literally his schtick. He's a contrarian and an absolutist. Rarely any soft takes or hedging. That's not what sells. He makes controversial hot takes that go against popular opinion.
If he's right, he can say "hey, don't blame me, I didn't want to be right." If he's wrong, he goes on about how happy he is that he was wrong.
He's done this so many times that it's predictable. If Matthew Coronato turns out to be legit, don't be surprised to hear Francis say that he expects him to walk in free agency to play with his childhood team the New York Islanders.
That said, lets be honest... re: Gaudreau and Tkachuk, he was guessing. For years, he was all over Gaudreau to PHI and Tkachuk to STL. Both easy speculative spots because that's (shocker) where they're from. Whoa, thats some deep research!
While I agree with your take. At the end of the day the guy is really just another lazy nepotism hire that has failed up and is in the boys club.

I don't pay attention to them either. Too the point when, aside from Flames games which my wife also watches, I shut the sound down on the sports I do follow. Play music. Rock n Roll.
And if I'm working out for the coming ski season, I want music for rhythm. I can watch PVR'd NHL, CFL and or World Cup with the sound off and don't miss a thing. Don't need analysts to enjoy those particular games or sports.
Actually slated for a workout tonight! No games on I know of so will replay a WC race from last year. No idea what I'll choose.

This couldn’t be better said. I can’t handle football culture, it’s nearing WWE territory in the way it’s presented and marketed.

7.
Game “starts”. Commercial, pre-kick analysis which is really just the old boys shooting the ####, commercial, kickoff, touchback, commercial, 3 plays, punt, commercial, 1 play, injury, commercial
Repeat
The amount of marketing makes it unwatchable

Have you not watched any NHL over the last year or two? It's not just an NFL thing.
You’re not wrong, last year Sportsnets presentation of the nhl was awful. Betting talk during intermissions combined with nonstop betting commercials. I stopped watching, now I’m a highlight watcher.

Yeah it's pretty bad. I tune in to watch game only so it's disappointing that TSN and RSN have shifted to betting talk in intermissions and a flood of betting commercials. Far worse than an NFL broadcast. I understand that it brings in extra money for the networks but it has turned off a lot of people as well.

The primary problem with the NHL coverage is that the ads are all gambling. For the most part, the actual coverage of the games hasn't changed much. However, that insert of the two guys talking about spreads during the playoffs was absolutely disgusting and caused me to turn the channel during intermissions.
But for the NFL coverage, it isn't just at halftime, it is non stop. The entire game and the entire coverage are now focused on fantasy points and individual players.

I’m not a fan of fantasy sports, I just don’t get the draw nor do I have the interest or time do it. The continuous discussion around this topic vs the team or the game pushes the casual fan away.

^ 100% agree with the above; however, the financial reality for some leagues is that these sports books are willing to spend money advertising with them - so it becomes a case of strange bedfellows that likely is not going away for quite some time.
seems to me that some people are more into watching games due to their financial stake rather than as a fan which is also unlikely to change as it is easier than ever to place a bet
