Default 13 Shows that Should Not Have Been Cancelled

link

I have the DVDs for 3 of these series, FireFly, Sports Night and The Tick.

I'm not sure about some of those, and others I never saw, but there are definitely a few that I will be interested in picking up the DVDs (if they exist).

Wholeheartedly agree with AD. I am still hurting over that one.

Freaks and Geeks I thought could have probably gained more popularity if it were given another season.

Dead like Me was also pretty good. It was off the air before I even knew it existed.

What happened to Firefly is the biggest travest in the history of TV IMO.

They aired it for too short of a time and in the WRONG ORDER!

It is probably the best TV series I have ever watched, hands down. It really really really sucks that there are only 15 episodes.

I'm still disappointed with the loss of AD....IMO the Office and AD would be one of the best hours of TV to watch!

I agree.
I will say that it took a few episodes before I was "hooked" and showing them out of order of Friday nights (at least initially) really made it tough for them to capture an audience. I saw the premiere "The Train Job" and wasn't impressed. When I watched the DVDs, it made a huge difference.

Loved The Tick . . . .

Didn't actually watch Arrested Development until it was showing up on CBC right at the supper hour on a nightly basis . . . . so catching up on all the seasons took no time at all . . . . pretty funny.

Another great one that isn't on the list is "Love Monkey". You can catch it on MuchMoreMusic the odd time. Very funny, solid acting, not sure why it got canned.

Undeclared was my favourite show while it was on. It came along at the perfect time...grade 12, right before I went to university to go through the same things they did on the show.

Dennis Leary had a show called "The Job" which didn't seem to get a chance. It was a great show. He sort of has a firefighter version of it going now with much more swearing and sex.

Arrested Development is one of the greats but I never watched it when it was actually on. Andy Richter was funny but like AD probably a little too original for us rubes to catch on fast enough for them to survive.

Man don't even get me started on FireFly. I love that show, own the season on DVD, and own the movie too. Angers me to no end that it was cancelled. Combined with the cancellations of Arrested Development, the Tick (Both of which I own on DVD) and the Lone Gunman makes me really hate Fox.

Yeah I totally agree. I was actually going to chime in and mention Undeclared, I was shocked to see it was actually on the list. I was in the same boat as you, only a year older. I took a year off from school after grade 12, and it was in that year that it was on. Great show. Another teenage-type show, albeit a cartoon, that they shouldve never cancelled was Clone High. Absolutely hilarious!

And I agree with the majority of the board that AD should never have been cancelled. To the point where I think if they throw it in heavy syndication in the States like they do in Canada right now, itd go the way of Family Guy and Futurama(2008) and be picked back up.

The Adventures of Brisco County Jr. is my absolute favourite TV show of all time. Bruce Campbell is the man. It's uncanny watching him because I have a brother-in-law who could be his identical twin. I just about soiled myself when I found the DVD set for the show.

What exactly did FireFly do to get such a treatment?

Hopefully "Friday Night Lights" isn't added to this list - it is the best show on network TV right now and is also in danger of cancellation.

I would add American Gothic to the list, and also Angel, which was on for a number of years but was actually just finding its real legs when it as nixed.

Twin Peaks should have also been given more time.

I was sad that Cone High didn't catch on. And I see underGRADFlame is browsing this thread right now, and Undergrads was a show I got hooked on too, but I couldn't really tell you why. Nothing stood out about it, it was just good.

AD was going to go to Showtime but the show's creator nixxed it because Showtime couldn't give it a big enough budget. I think AD is done. Also, there's a big difference between live-action shows and cartoons. Cartoons can be brought back much easier.

I really enjoyed watching 'Dead Like Me' and was shocked when it was cancelled. So many good story lines were yet to be developed...
