I just learned today that there's three people in Calgary that don't like the NFL.

He was on every Tuesday or Wednesday (maybe Thursday) morning with Pinder last year.

So... I did not say endurance running (or marathon fast paced)... I said jogging which is slow paced to build an athlete's aerobic base during the off season.
In addition to adding sprints especially for the bursts of energy.

Road cycling built up to 2 hours or more at a comfortable pace is also used by many athletes in different sports especially skating type sports.

Then there is plyometrics with weights to also train the quads, hamstrings and other training to improve ankle dorsiflexion which should improve speed.

I expect they likely go through video of their skating stride to see areas to improve, and adjust training, stretching, etc to work on the improvements required.

I am not a trainer but I do know a number of high performance amateur athletes in a couple different sports (that are not running) and these are some of the key things they work on during their off season to improve conditioning and endurance before the next season starts.

Sunday - first week of NFL, and they broadcast a Blue Jays pre-game show.

Enjoyed Francis as a disturber for years. He's king of the hill now after Steinberg since everybody else quit. And love him or hate him he called Gaudreau and was spot on. Even he said he's upset he was correct. He gets good guests now that he's one of the few still standing.

Regards "3" who don't follow NFL? That's the the over the top arrogance I'm talking about. NFL fans think their s*&t doesn't stink.

Make that four, couldn’t care less about football regardless of league. No interest whatsoever.

Although I'd go to see an NFL game to check it off some random list in my head, much like I went to a game at Old Trafford.

Who do you think helped chase Gaudreau out of town? Francis mission accomplished.

I'm a sports fan so I expect the sports radio to talk about sports.

I have passing interest in some sports, no interest in others, and high interest in the rest.

When they aren't talking about "my" sport, I don't get pissy and run to CP to bitch about it.

Sports talk radio should be sports talk radio, including local pro and amateur, national and high profile international stuff.

Right, so Eric Francis columns and radio appearances had more sway on Gaudreau's decision than a new baby on the way and building a life with his family, his father's health, and proximity to his home.

That's literally his schtick. He's a contrarian and an absolutist. Rarely any soft takes or hedging. That's not what sells. He makes controversial hot takes that go against popular opinion.

If he's right, he can say "hey, don't blame me, I didn't want to be right." If he's wrong, he goes on about how happy he is that he was wrong.

He's done this so many times that it's predictable. If Matthew Coronato turns out to be legit, don't be surprised to hear Francis say that he expects him to walk in free agency to play with his childhood team the New York Islanders.

That said, lets be honest... re: Gaudreau and Tkachuk, he was guessing. For years, he was all over Gaudreau to PHI and Tkachuk to STL. Both easy speculative spots because that's (shocker) where they're from. Whoa, thats some deep research!

It was a coin flip situation that many posters here expected over the years. Does that mean we are great insiders as well? He was the only person that thought Bruce Boudreau was going to be the Flames head coach before Gulutzan was hired so he gets 100% credit there for being wrong. There's a reason he's one of the last few standing in Calgary sports and it has nothing to do with the quality of his work.

Five. Enjoy the game, don't like the league. Really don't like the sports talk surrounding the NFL, which seems to be 45% betting (which I don't do), 45% fantasy (which assumes you have in-depth knowledge of about 2,000 players' individual stats and career trajectories), and 10% actual football.

Except when Francis decided prior to Gaudreau leaving that Johnny was going to stay.

He zigged when he should have stayed the course. Francis knows nothing.
