Cool coffee shop suggestions for teens/young adults?

Yeah, my daughter drives so getting around isn't a big deal. I was just hoping for something more authentic and less corporate. Lazy Loaf and Weeds were my examples. In the 90s there were a bunch we'd go to, though. Viscious Circle, Roasterie, and a cool one that was in an old house kind of by Smiling Buddha, I think.

Felt like the North had ton, but I haven't seen anything really in the south, so I was hoping for a hidden gem somewhere a la Weeds.

Yeah, bubble tea or even just tea would work. Even Italian sodas. It's less about the drinks and more about the atmosphere, though. Was hoping to find them and their friends somewhere cool they could call their own.

Lake Bonavista is kind of boring so if they want to be adventurous you or they should find a way to 17th and let them go for a walk. Let them find it, especially if they want to "call it their own".

Plenty already mentioned but Luke's an Analog are two of my favourites, you're just in a less interesting part of the city and they won't have easy access to the locations of either place

I think Purple Perk is owned by a hardcore anti vaxxer and is frequented by groups of uniformed police officers. Depending on your outlook those could be huge positives or negatives.

Higher Grounds is always just a quick C-Train trip away (both locations).
I've also found the coffee and snacks at Hexagon to be really good - they don't even have to be interested in Board games. I've seen many groups just come in the hang out.

Yeah, my kids do other things. One has her first level of snowboard instructor (hoping to get hired this year for that) her first aid and first level of swim instructor. Just got hired as a respite worker, too. Son has his first aid, bronze medallion, and will be working to get certified as a snowboard instructor this year now that he's old enough. He also started his own snow shovelling and lawn care business with three customers.

I mean, just because I'm looking for them to have a neat place to frequent doesn't mean they're losers. I want them to value socialising and down time. I want them to foster friendships and learn how to converse, play games and just be. I think there are a lot of people who don't value down time and I don't want my kids to be like that. I think there's healthy down time and down time that can lean too hard into being a waste of time. Sitting around a cool coffee shop munching on a rice crispie square and drinking a mocho rolo is an awesome and healthy thing for kids to do...caffeine up and talk and joke with your friends and just try to figure out life. What could be better?

If I was a teen it would sweet if I had a garage that I could hang out in with my friends. Get a tv for some games and a stereo for some tunes. A fridge for some drinks and snacks and maybe an espresso machine or something. I would probably be the coolest kid in school.
