I would assume so. You can't separate the teeth and mouth from the rest of the human body.
It's a matter of priorities. I believe all the provinces already have a free or low-cost dental program for children.
I understand some of the historical reasons for excluding dental care from healthcare was due to the ability to significantly reduce tooth decay by fluoridating the drinking water. Also there was the belief that the problem was an individual rather than a social problem.

We are all aware of the terrible state of our healthcare in various parts of the country.
Do the kids teeth need fixing? Sure. Do the people troubled with rising inflation and interest rates need help? Sure. But I would think having an Emergency Department, and more qualified doctors and nurses in this Country would be higher in priority.

Can both not be done? It seems somewhat hypocritical for Alberta of all provinces to complain about funding for healthcare given that our current government have given massive tax breaks to profitable corporations. Those tax breaks are costing the province well over a billion dollars a year in tax revenue, seems like we could improve healthcare services significantly with that money.

IMO the handing out of additional sums of money to the masses will only tend to keep the economy stoked, which in turn will only increase interest rates and the pain that comes along with it. I believe a cooling off of the economy is essential to prevent things like labor unrest with wage acceleration, and a fixed and permanent inflationary psychology. Don't forget I experienced the 70s and 80s, and know how bad it can get.
|
How is providing dental care to lower income families going to create labour unrest and prevent wage acceleration?

CPC leadership election results tonight. It will be interesting to see how the ranked rounds played out.
I did not hear about Bergen earlier this week and I don't believe it was mentioned in this thread but she will not be running again in the next election.

Well the CPC is officially a no-no for me next election. Either NDP or Liberals.

Ugh...the next election is going to be a bloodbath.
You've got Poilevre who is unlikable (at best), Trudeau who is just...an incompetent and corrupt idiot and Singh who is basically a couple of percentage points in either direction away from the Political Gallows.
Its like playing Political Russian Roulette with a fully loaded revolver.

Yeah, I couldn’t bring myself to vote for any of these 3 guys. I’m not sure many conservatives realize how unlikeable Poilevre is. He’s not going to pull many votes from the center or the left.

If he dyes his hair blue, wears red shorts and calls the Speaker of the House 'Bart' I might just vote for him.

For sure, it's pretty depressing. I'll probably end up voting who I want to win my area again, as I've done the last few elections. Will probably be NDP again, but we'll see.
PP is just an awful candidate. Was really hoping Charest would win, I'd definitely consider giving him my vote.

He was fine in his limited role as an attack dog, but leadership material?
Frame it in this context:
Trudeau is so stupid as to be completely oblivious as to how stupid he is. When he goes to International conferences he largely just gets ignored. The Chancellor of Germany (best name for a National Leader BTW just throwin that out there) shows up begging to pay for Canadian resources and Trudeau says to him he says:
"Theres is no business sense to be made in offering you goods for money that you're begging to throw at us."
The World laughs. Because Trudeau is a Clown. He dresses up, acts like a fool and gets laughed at. He doesnt care. He is completely oblivious as to how big a tool he is.
Poilievre? My concern is that he really doesnt know what he's doing. I am further concerned that he is guided too much by ideology rather than evidence or common sense and if he were similarly ridiculed I would worry about what he'd do.
That man strikes me as someone with a temper. Which can be good....but isnt necessarily.

I might just have to go off the board. The Candidate in my riding could murder a puppy on TV and still get elected.

Welp... so much for that election. I wonder if this ends up being Stephane Dion in reverse. Does the CPC drop below 100 seats?

I’m willing to give him a chance, and I suspect he will now revert to more centrist policy now that he has the party. If he does he will mop the floor. People saying Poilievre doesn’t know what he’s doing but Trudeau does? LOL.
The bitcoin thing isn’t happening and that would be political suicide to continue sticking to that idiocy so it won’t happen. Same with all the other usual boogeyman #### people try to stick to cons. See what he has to say from here on out to form opinions, the rest of it to this point was just pandering to the conservative side only to win the party.

I think this country needs major change. Cherest would be like Trudeau lite. I think Canada needs to try something completely different, I have no issues giving Pierre a chance, nothing could be worse the Trudeau/Jagmeet disaster.
