Maybe we should just call them the Royal Incest Mountain Range and call it a day.

It's amazing what passes for a leader these days. I swear Kenney has development/ brain trauma issues. And it's not just him. Each generation just more smarmy, extremist, entitled and brazenly stupid than the last. We are basically being ruled by third rate comic book characters

I never said paying them differently, but it seems like not allowing people to continue be employed based on their age must be permitted if that's the rule for judges (and seems like a good idea to me, for example airline pilots have a maximum age and I think that is a good policy).

I really doubt it if it wasn't permissible somehow under relevant human rights legislation then some judge they were making retire would have fought it. And being a judge it seems likely that they'd be more skilled at interpreting legislation than either you or me.

There are exceptions as was pointed out, however there doesn’t appear to be one in the case of paying people a different rate of pay based on their age which is what was being discussed.

In the case of your airline pilots example, safety and precautionary principle almost always trump everything else in a workplace so it’s an Apple to oranges comparison with the minimum wage.

For the judge example, if it is a condition of employment that your tenure cannot extend past a certain age it might not be considered a human rights violation if you agreed to take the role with that condition so long as it’s not being arbitrarily enforced. With that being said it’s important to note that just because no one has challenged it yet doesn’t mean it’s not a violation. Just like the minimum wage law.

This isn't an "investment" in any sense of the word, it's a waste of money, duplicating a service the feds provide. Nothing for AISH recipeints though, or to fix our crumbling healthcare system. At least it'll be easier to transfer hand guns around, because that's such a benefit to society...####ing muppets, the lot of them.

Latest polls have UCP with a slight lead over NDP. Only in Alberta, folks. Embarrassing.

You can blame the people or blame the choices. Joe Cici the Finance minister frankly gives me chills, and I am not a fan of the last UCP term at all.

Is Travis Toews’ record better in your opinion?

Except they (NDP) aren’t really saying how and what they’ll do differently, a lot of reactions but I haven’t really heard anything new or progressive or maybe I missed it.
Are we still shipping oil by rail, I know it was cut back but that’s just dangerous and we’ve seen what can happen.

At this point, they could vow to do nothing except stop implementing the stupid ideas of the UCP and it would be an improvement.

The NDP will govern with some humanity, which will be a massive improvement. I suspect they would work with the Feds to get us deals, rather than spitting in their face like a velociraptor that just had their chew toy taken away.

Considering the UCP did even worse financially than the NDP even when accounting for pandemic and oil-price-related issues, pretending they’re actually the scarier option financially is just mindless partisan bias coming into play. The UCP are just genuinely terrible but dumb suckers are going to vote for them anyway.

Of all the current UCP candidates, Toews is the only one I’ve noticed and seen ads on social media. Looks and sounds good to me, I actually hope and think he has a good chance of winning. Wasn’t there someone else finance minister before him. Kenney is going to be gone so there will be basically a new party. If Jean and Smith lose this time that will be the last you probably hear of them.

No, he’s been one of the few steady members of cabinet. He’s part of the religious right wing faction of the UCP that will roll back women’s reproductive rights if he gets the chance. He’s lake of fire bad.

The UCP are by far the worst thing that could have happened to Alberta. The fallacy that they’re better with money is ridiculous. We have the evidence. Vote NDP if you care about Alberta.

Basically a new party? Open your eyes son. Clearly you are not paying attention

Conservative concentrators would rather talk about the Federal liberals in the other thread rather than come here.

They'll hem and haw about the UCP but they'll vote for the UCP for sure. Because Ceci is fiscally 'scary'. If not, they'll vote for something unserious, like the Alberta version of the rhino party because they're a 'fiscally conservative, socially liberal' political orphan.
