Like that's a better return than Chicago got for Debrincat.
And as expected he went from having 21 goals and 37 points in 55 games playing with Kane and being force fed minutes.
To 6 goals, 13 points in 55 games across the playoffs and regular season in Tampa Bay. Raddysh actually outscored him across the 22 regular season games they each had remaining.
Just a horrible trade.

Hagel was never going to score as much as he did with the hawks, TB never expected him to do that.
What they were expecting was a defensively responsible 3rd liner who could chip in occasionally offensively. He got zero PP time and his minutes of course decreased.
I think TB got exactly what they expected.

That's fine, but it doesn't change the fact that they paid way too much for that kind of player.

That's a heck of a premium to pay for that, if that's what they expected.
Haaaveeeee you met Dillon Dube?

I think I know what you meant, but that's one of the funniest things I've ever read on this site.
There is definitely correlation (albeit imperfect) with an average of 0.38-0.39 NHL points/game per AHL point/game. Pelletier projects around 30 points per 82 games.

He's made it known he wants to play for MTL... Flames shouldn't be dumping more assets at this point, and for a one year rental.

That is not what he said. He said he doesn't intend to sign in Winnipeg. Everyone assumed it was Montreal because he was french. Remember everyone assuming Huby wasn't going to sign in Calgary for the same reason?

Didn’t people assume it was Montreal because his agent publicly said so?

Oh wow! Totally missed that one. I just remember the initial report being that he didn't want to re-sign in Winnipeg.

Toews was super pissed when the ‘hawks traded Hagel, and made comments about it to the media. Hagel was buried in TB last year, but he will get more minutes and better production as the Lightning players age, and leave the team through free agency, as Palat did.
Still an outrageous overpayment, but he’s a very good player.

Clearly only wanted to go to MTL assuming that he would be playing with Huberdeau though, now he's all about Calgary obviously.

I wish it were true, I love Dubois-big, fast, and mean. Not sure about Dubois the person, or Dubois the locker room presence though. Seems to be a coaching problem, and maybe a DB.

If the Flames are going to sign Evan Rodrigues, I bet it happens soon. Ryan Murray and Sam Gagner just went for $750k each, and James Neal just signed a PTO. It seems like teams are starting to finish off their training camp rosters.

Friedman on Rodrigues on the 32 thoughts podcast:
chance it gets sorted out this week
quite a bit of interest
he is trying to pick out where he is getting the most value deal and the biggest role
heard that one of the teams in on him is Anaheim
makes sense because they can pay him and flip him like Klingberg
Calgary has been in around Rodrigues but Friedman isn't sure if the Flames have the (cap) flexibility to add him
another Canadian team or two are in there
lots more teams that he hasn't mentioned involved

Certainly doesn't sound like he's signing a 1 year bargain contract, which takes us out of it I'd imagine.

If he's waited this long to sign a one-year contract, that's not great agenting.

It wasn't just type of player Hagel is - a guy that can slide up and down.
The main reason he was attractive - and Tampa paid a premium - was his cost certainty, where he slots in at 1.5 for two more seasons. For a team like the Lightning, who is cap-strapped due to going for it, that is huge.

Toews was more upset about Hagel than he was about Beech.
