Tiafoe playing the best he ever has, can he close this out?

I mean having an American make a deep run at the US Open, and it not being Isner, is good for entertainment. Still amazed that he's close to finishing and he's still under 50% first serve. Killing Nadal today on the ground.

I also can't recall a match where Rafa has hit 9 double faults.

Could have swore he was in double digits this year against Shapo in Australia. Tiafoe made that last hold harder than he needed, but that backhand has been money today.

I just took a look and you are correct Senator, 11 double faults for Rafa in that match.

Well that might have been the very best single performance by anyone this year, Tiafoe just pounding groundstrokes and running Rafa ragged. Hell of an effort, which of course means bet the house on a massive letdown next match.

Well that sucked lol . Just watched the match after being at the Stamps game this afternoon. Happy for Tiafoe, he seems like a good guy but obviously incredibly disappointed with the results.

Now that Nadal is out I can cheer for Alcaraz guilt free and not worry about him beating Nadal.

That would be cool but I wouldn't be shocked to see Ruud and Alcaraz both advance in those matchups. Tiafoe would be interesting as well as I think he can beat Rublev who's kind of alternated between great match and not so great match. It's kind of exciting for a new winner to be crowned as things are wide open on the men's side. Such a bummer that no Canadians made it to week two.

This is a great point and gives Sinner such a huge advantage in the next match. They need to start playing earlier in the day or something. Some people are suggesting best of 3 for men's which would be a horrible idea.

This is only really an issue at the US Open. Personally I feel the night matches are what makes it the best grand slam so I'm for leaving things as-is. Alcaraz has young legs and will manage fine. Also I wouldn't consider Sinner getting off the court 3 hours earlier last night a huge advantage when they are playing tomorrow evening which is plenty of rest between matches.

Yeah I don't get why this is suddenly an issue that someone wants to rise? They have a day off today anyway, and it's not like players are in need of drastic on court time on the off-days late in a slam. People need to stop trying to change everything and make life easier on highly tuned athletes that are fully capable of dealing with it. It's really friggen hard to win a slam and this is part of the process.

Some really cryptic comments coming from Nadal after the loss. It is really starting to look like this may be getting very close to the end for a player that simply won't tolerate anything less than excellence on court.

The end is certainly coming for Nadal, we may only get 1-2 more years of watching the GOAT play. He has had a very rough end to the year with so many injuries and his mind was certainly back in Spain with his pregnant wife Maria who's currently in the hospital.
Ruud absolutely blitzing Berettini right now up 6-1,3-1

I think the journalist is pissed off about 3am press conferences more than he cares about the health of the players.
The Tennis Podcast has become unlistenable. Every episode is moaning about something.
