Gunther and Sheamus' match was great. Really the only thing I didn't like was the result of the main event.

I was hoping The Fiend would show up but really there wasn't a spot for him to show up with Kross being involved with Drew and Roman's feud and the turn with the Edge/Rey and The Judgement Day feud.

CM Punk in the post match tonight might be better drama than the PPV itself

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=yUGI7-9S4QE

Just lays into Page and the Young Bucks, takes a shot at MJF too

The shot at MJF seems tongue in cheek. The comments on Page and the Bucks is... well, CM Punk just isn't this good of an actor.

The whole thing is ridiculous at this point and nobody is handling it well.

Part of me does think it could be real drama that’s elevated to a work at this point. Easiest way to turn Punk heel in this company is have him shoot on The Elite and Page.

MJF had his name chanted with Punk in the ring in Chicago tonight, which would have seemed crazy before all these Punk rumors.

But it’s more likely just Punk being Punk. Which is funny because it’s what Page and MJF said he was in the promos in their fueds.

Yeah, I watched that press conference, and Punk exploding and it wasn't unusual, its Punk.

I think its time for Punk to go outright heel, they really need that in AEW. Might as well run MJF as a face for now and as the anti-establishment guy. though both Punk and MJF are pretty anti-establishment.

I really think if Tony was smart, this whole EVP thing should be over. I mean with Omega who's in charge of the video game and suppossed to be working with the woman's division. The Video game thing was another match stick with FTR not being in the game. The woman's division is really a train wreck.

With the Bucks, just get them out of the executive offices.

Find some professionals that aren't in ring competitors.

More on the press conference, and I've seen this from more then one reporting source, that Omega and the Bucks threatened to walk over Punk's comments.

That there was a confrontation back stage.

https://wrestlingheadlines.com/melee...heat-and-more/

Quote:
In an update, a new report from multiple sources notes that that Punk garnered “an incredible amount of heat” for his comments, and that this reportedly led to a big altercation between two sides.
Word made the rounds after the scrum rant by Punk that AEW EVPs and inaugural AEW World Trios Champions Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks were extremely pissed off, and one source claimed they were “threatening to walk” over Punk’s comments, according to Fightful Select. It was noted that at least one of The Young Bucks had been in contact with non-AEW talent and indicated that many of the rumors on Punk and the frustration surrounding him were true.
Quote:
Word came out in the wee hours of the morning that there was some sort of confrontation that put Punk and AEW Producer Ace Steel, his longtime friend/trainer, against members of The Elite, according to Fightful. It was then noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that multiple sources reported seeing an altercation between The Young Bucks and Punk, due to the comments Punk made during the scrum. The incident was described as a melee. Word is that a security guard was seen running out of the scrum shortly after Punk left. Khan was not informed of the situation until after the scrum ended, and as of 1:41am CT on Monday, everyone was still in the building.
Regarding the whole situation possibly being a work, talent within AEW are under the impression that the situation is real and not a work. The heat between Punk and Cabana, and Punk and Page, has been real for a long time.
BTW if this was a work and Kahn is working the boys in the back on this, it never works out well.

I don't care if it is real or not. Let's see Punk and Omega work in the ring.

I'd faction it up. I'd take the Omega's and the Bucks and people like Page and all the buddies of the EVP's and have them come out as a faction that this is their company, and the other guys are just lucky to be there in their glory, and because they're the power you will do what they say.

Take guys like Punk, and FTR, and guys like Cesaro, as a whole resistance side of things who talk about no matter how bad things got in WWE under Vince at least there was professionalism there and not power consumed wrestlers in the executive office.

Then have Punk and FTR kick the ever loving crap out of Omega and the Bucks and Page etc.

If you're going to have discord in the back, at the very least make money out of it.

Anyways build it up with Punk and FTR almost like a NWO faction, you could even take a guy like Regal who's a wrestler first as the head and put Tony in the other group with his support of the EVP's or elite or whatever.

Build it up to a PPV no blow off matches, no meeting in the rings, have brawls in the back, have ambushes. No silly stuff, no humor to this, make it as grim and real to life as possible.

Then have a losers leave town title match and a loser leaves town tag team match (Since they never mean what they say and people always come back). Have that blow off and make a ton of money.

But make Punk and FTR and guys like Cesaro for example extreme killers.

And for god sakes keep Jericho out of it.

If this is a work, it's bad business because their biggest home grown guy in MJF just returned over as #### and now no one is talking about it. If it isn't a work, it's bad business because you're letting guys who are marks for themselves more than the money that can be made call bad shots.

During that press conference last night Tony looked like such a feckless dweeb so both are possible and I don't see anything getting better.

Kahn should suspend them all for a month. He has no control over the locker room and that’s the issue.

Suspend Punk and Bucks.

Talk to Page and Omega to actually buy in to a team mentality.

One this is for sure, Jim Cornette is loving every second of this. His podcast has been gold lately.

His takes on AEW have always been overly harsh (I'll never get why he dislikes Kenny Omega so much) but he's been so on the ball accurate on the issues in that company it's scary.

He may have some very esoteric and aged ideas but the man is still probably one of the smartest wrestling minds on the planet.

Like most things in wrestling, it is likely that a part of it is a work, and a part of it is 'real'.

I like listening to Cornette, and his gimmick is to be over the top. But yeah, he's a bit over the top but a lot of stuff that he talks about with WWE and AEW and the logic of story lines missing is bang on.

His criticism of modern wrestling not telling a story and just being bs silly looking spot fests at time is to me pretty accurate on both sides.

Kahn should wake up tomorrow cut the bottom 15 or 20 guys on his roster, suspend Punk and suspend Omega and the Bucks, or announce that they're no longer EVP's and if they don't like it they're free to leave.

He's got to get control of his company.

I agree with the above, whether MJF is back to frankly run out his contract, or if he's made amends. Nobody is talking about a great return by a really talented guy.

Yeah I'd rant Cornette and Heyman at the top of the ladder of people who really do understand the mechanics of professional wrestling.

And they both think that Russo is a cancer to the business and that's a plus.

This is some high school level bull#### right here - but then again, it's the wrestling biz and that's nothing new. One thing I dislike about this industry is the carny atmosphere backstage that continually seems to never go away.

AEW better clean this up, and in short order - with the new (and better) direction WWE is going under Triple H, now is not the time to let their locker room turn into WCW.

Yeah, embarrassing on all sides. Khan needs to make an example out of everyone involved. If they walk, they walk.

The sad part is Punk isn't even needed. Moxley, Danielson and Omega keep that main event going, and they have plenty of supporting talent to keep the fans engaged.

This just feels like remnants of mid-2000s BS that is rearing it's ugly head once again. Oh well, better make some money off it.
