I might be in a different Calgary, lol. It's been hazy as s*** all day and even more intense this evening.

I found if I looked south or west its just pure white, but north or east it was mostly blue. At least downtown. But I'm on my balcony now and notice it's gotten worse this evening, pretty much greyish white in every direction but straight up.
Still not as bad as those really bad ones last year, this is deff hazy but not hurting my lungs, more just feels like we're in a big oven. I can handle September 3rd as our first real smoke day all summer.
(but yeah #### smoke in general)

How many directions does your balcony face?!?
Thank god for AC or I’d be dying. I see some neighbours have their windows wide open. No idea how. I’d be choking on the heat and smoke.

North with side views east and west haha. The two previously good directions are now also bad, boooo. Walked off my way too big breakfast today downtown and got a good 360 view of Smokesville

Not sure which fires are fueling this haze.
Is it mostly coming from the blaze near ghost river?
The nearest real 'cluster' is south of the border. Seems pretty widespread for the lack of proximity.
Turns out yesterday was the best day to get out. I'm really glad I did. Everybody's long weekend photos are going to look like bladerunner.

And I'd say things were slightly hazy today, and thats about it; dont think anyone's plans were impacted and it really doesn't smell much (if at all). Pictures might have some haze but it was (yet another) glorious summer day. Summer 2022 absolutely slaying it

We manage hot days that way.
Windows open at night, maybe some vent and hood fans to move air on still days, close them and shut curtains in sun facing windows when it’s 30 out
Just common sense. We can get the house down from say 26 on days in the mid 30s to about 20 at night

I don't have AC either, but I'm on the 9th floor so it can be drafty, and north-facing so I never get any direct sun in here. I'm looked after.
I'm also a dang lizard so I'm fine regardless...was in Vegas for a stag earlier this week & was outside in the pool when it was 42. This don't scare me *cough cough*

I think my AC has been on every day June through today.
It’s awesome.
We have tons of tall trees as well -I could get my house down to a comfy “24-26” degrees without it most days it was >30 I am sure … but why?
Then you throw in smoke and my merv 16 furnace filter protecting us… what type of investment is your health worth?

Do we live in the same city? The number of hot days in Calgary this year have been off the charts. We can close to setting the all time record for consecutive +27 days. And it’s not gonna get better anytime soon. How many cool rainy days have we had since July 1? Like 2?
This was the hottest august in the history of Calgary and it’s not crazy to think it’ll be one of the coolest summers of the next 25 years. AC is gonna go from a luxury to almost necessity.
The days of “we don’t get hot summers” is long gone.
