Weren't Glaus's #s last year give or take within the overall context of his career?

They may have been but he is getting older and has some some injury trouble in the past that would have me worried that his body might break down.

BJ Ryan blew the game tonight. 5-3 Jays in the bottom of the 9th and then Ryan allows a 2 run homer to tie it 5-5 and then a base hit and the Devil Rays win 6-5.

Halladay gets his first win since August 20th of last year, as the Jays win 6-3. Reed Johnson with a 3 run jack and VW go deep for the Jays. Casey Janssen with another good outing throws two scoreless innings of relief.

Supposedly that splitter is sporting is actually his slider or curveball.
Either way, it looks and acts like a splitter and is getting a bunch of Ks. Exactly the pitch he needed to add to his arsenal to take his game to the next level.

So far so good in terms of Reed proving he can play everyday in the majors. The guys is solid in all areas and I love his hustle. I somewhat doubted that he could be an every day player and still worry about him breaking down over the season, but man you gotta love his jam.
Johnny Mac is another guy I really like - comes up with a couple hits today which is always a bonus with the guy.
Would like to see Matt Stairs get into a game soon.

i agree, it's tough plugging macdonald in there knowing taht he's likely not going to be helping out offensively. it'll be interesting to see how things unfold w/a guy like smith on the roster also. i think that smith has some more offensive potential than macdonald, but who knows i guess...that's why they play the games.

Jonny Mac is a perfect guy for his role - late game defensive replacement, occasional start. Although he doesn't have much pop, he can bunt, and execute the hit and run and what not.

John Macdonald pretty much won the game today with his spectacular double play early on. As good as it gets.

9-1 drubbing of KC in the home opener, burnett mowed over the royals despite not having his best stuff and putting a few guys on base via the walk. sweet offensive production from the bottom third of the order...something that the jays have lacked in recent times. good home opener for sure.

I wanted to go through the set and punch the idiot fan who grabbed the Overbay double off the field. Luckily, the ump let Johnson's run count. Nice homer by Wells, too. Best of all, a decent game by Burnett with a 3 hitter through almost 7 innings.

Yeah, I'll never get why fans do that. At least it looks like they made him give up the ball and booted him from the seats. I don't know how much front row seats cost, but a baseball is worth like $10 at most so to get booted from those seats in the second inning to get a ball is just dumb.

he had to give back the ball! i'm sure that the average guy has no idea not to touch it when it's a fair ball.

Anyone else a fan of Hill? I liked him when he first came up 2 years ago and am encouraged by young players like this in the Jays lineup. His hitting will improve and he is developing into a solid defensive player. I'm also like how Casey Janssen has looked thus far and his potential as a bullpen pitcher.

Big game tonight, not so much in the standings but to one Josh Towers.
Although I'm a rather big critic of the Jays pitching staff, this lineup is as good as they get. I've loved watching them so far this year, and am very excited to see what they can do over a full season.

I'm thrilled by how we're one of those teams that no matter how many runs the opposition scores, we're still in the game.
Now if the pitching is even just above average, we should make the playoffs, if not more.

I agree, this will be interesting to see if Towers has finally turned his game around. Or will this be the same guy that gets rocked in the first three innings.
If Towers does get pounded I bet the Jays will have very little patience with the guy.
