I agree with that on a personal level - but at a national level, you pretty much do have to pick one.

Nah the USA of today is massively morally superior to China. It’s a joke to compare them.

I gets it’s fun and easy to crap on the states but let’s not spout cccp talking points just because it’s fun.

And perhaps you should expand on what you mean by "our terms", just so that I don't get that wrong too.

Our terms? China needs to become more like us in terms of our values and morals.

Let’s start easy. Not actively participating in genocide.

As a statement of peace? The status quo is peace. American having a night advantage has kept peace.

This statement is false.

EU GDP is $17.09T, US GDP is $23T, combined that's $40.09 trillion.

BRICS combined is China $17.73T, Brazil $1.61T, India $3.17T, Russia $1.78T, South Africa $0.419T, which adds up to $24.7 trillion dollars or just slightly more than the United States alone and absolutely nowhere close to the US and Europe combined.

Not to mention economists are not exactly bullish on the Chinese economy over the next 30 years.

Hence their all in on belt and road as once the population curves catch up…

Sorry no new world order is expected with China at the head. The other nations? Maybe but sorry China you might be left behind if you’re not extremely careful.

China also sucks at innovation, cant lead the pack if you have no fresh ideas.

I honestly haven’t seen stats on this.

I will say stories of Nexan higher ups -new idea taken to top Chinese brass in Canada … no one makes a call to implement. Stall stall stall. Needs to go all the way to the top in China and back.

This doesn’t seem like a culture of innovation if it’s representable of how other communist led companies are run and the government needs a private sector to innovate.

I once saw a study on innovation and the effect of culture. It pretty much concluded the American culture of rewarding and celebrating winners creates one of the strongest conditions for innovation a culture could have and while americas domination is due to many many factors, it helps maintain their “lead”. Canadians by contrast are a lot more modest. Think of our graduation ceremony or election celebration vs theirs.

It also leaves people behind (you go bankrupt because of health conditions- you didn’t win you failed it’s your fault) but the innovation they create .. helps lift all in society. Although they weren’t commenting on the trade off of innovation vs leaving people behind, only mentioned that side effect.

In a market environment where intellectual property cannot be vigorously enforced, there is reduced incentive to innovate.

I can't believe the Republican talking point is about how the documents are staged on the floor... they truly think everyone is stupid.

I'll tell you what I like about Chinese people. They're hanging in there with the chopsticks, aren't they? You know they've seen the fork. They're staying with the sticks. I don't know how they missed it. Chinese farmer gets up, works in the field with a shovel all day. Shovel. Spoon. Come on. You're not plowing 40 acres with a couple of pool cues!

Yeah, who cares if the documents were spread out for photos. That’s pretty standard police procedure. The key is that the idiot has them and they’re not secure.

Well Seinfeld did specify Chinese, who don't seem to use spoons that much outside of soup (at least their restaurants don't). The Koreans have it figured out the best, metal chopsticks that are easy to clean and always paired with a spoon so you're never fighting to get those last few bits of rice
