I would have never guessed Butler. Hope things work out well for Monny in Montreal.

I can’t believe I’ve been following a Chris Butler account for the last 9 years

Monahan is low-key funny, I bet he was one of the funniest players on the Flames

I always thought the toast gag started when Monahan was giving a tour of his “crib” he shared with Bouma in his second season. When he was walking them through the kitchen he highlighted the toaster and how “sometimes they will throw a slice in there” I remember getting a good laugh when watching the video and I had a chuckle when I found it again today

I remember criticizing the account when it was still pretty new. I just never found it that funny. Then someone suggested it was McGrattan who was behind it, so I kept my mouth shut. Now that I know it was Butler, I stand by my original claim.

I recall the rumour at the time that it was a teammate. Some speculated it was Brian McGrattan.

The fact that Chris Butler kept that going after the joined the Blues is spectacular.

Also, lots to unpack in that video:

- Lots of "wows" looking at the Bell Centre facilities; a little nicer than the Saddledome sadly

- Montreal hot dogs after games are apparently quite the tradition in NHL locker rooms; 2-3 sounds about right

- LOL at Monahan gravitating to the personalized keychains to get as gifts for his parents

- LOL at Monahan getting super excited at buying his dog a Habs dog toy

Very fitting that he’s bringing his parents keychains as souvenirs.

Really says something about him when the majority of us miss him more than the two all star wingers that left us.
