Default Noah Hanifin

By his contract season, 23/24 he just might be the next Flame candidate for the Norris.

I see him being our 4th best defenceman this year behind Tanev, Weegar and Andersson.

I'm not a fan of trading Hanafin.
There's nothing wrong with him, I don't see why he can't be a lifer on the Flames.

Leave the D core alone. Depending on pairings, I think Noah and Kylington are going to have big years.

Hanifin was largely regarded as the best prospect outside of McDavid and Eichel in the 2015 draft. Arizona and Toronto felt differently and Hanifin slide to 5th overall. Carolina seemed like they had seen enough to package him with Lindholm for Dougie, Ferland, and Fox.

The summer of 2018 I was excited for the new look team and I will admit I saw Hanifin as the main piece returning in that deal with Lindholm as the secondary piece which at least 4 years later is false. Hanifin is soft spoken and not a flashy player so has drawn those Bouwmeester comparisons. He suffered by being paired with Hamonic for the first 2 years he was here. The result was a player who most thought was simply average. That definitely changed when Tanev was brought in and Hanifin started to look like a legit top 4 guy. Last year he moved to the top pair on the left side and both he and Anderson had huge offensive numbers.

Hanifin likely has a long term deal around $8M in his future but with the Flames cap structure I am not sure it will be here. I think Noah is a flame for 1 more year and is moved next summer to create some cap space and avoid losing him for nothing as a UFA.

Wasn’t this the poster advocating trading Hanifin straight up for Taylor Hall? Dog days indeed.

I like his game, wherever they slot in, hopefully he and Andersson stay together. Loved it when Kylington joined the rush, he is really coming on as well. Nhl's most improved player has more in the tank. Yes, he missed Tanev, but as we saw, the whole D core missed Tanev.

Not straight up but close, and yes, that was me. Guess I changed my mind?

Why are some of you being asses to this poster because he has an opinion about where Hanifin can get to? This is what I am talking about, some of you are just getting really toxic.

I’m a huge fan of the steps he has taken over the last 2 seasons. That said, he has a ways to go before he becomes an elite defenseman that you can throw out there in all situations. There was a reason he wasn’t on the first PP or the first PK. The Norris conversation is extremely premature.

I did say his contract season...so two full season's from now. Maybe I'm nuts and yeah I wanted to move home for scoring going into the playoffs last year but... I like his game.
