Warming up to the idea of Milano, just for his playmaking. I think Sutter could something out of him like he did with Huselius.
https://twitter.com/user/status/1546605537126752256
Even though he is a left-shot, Capfriendly lists him as a LW and RW. If the Flames think he is a better player than Rodrigues or fills a different need, I would be okay with it. I think he would work really well with Mangiapane or Toffoli. I know reports have said he wasn't looking to take a discount but he might have to at this point.

Wow, maybe I'm wrong-perhaps we should give Milano a chance, and see what Sutter can do.

None of those players were claimed during the preseason waiver rush and only Wolanin and Cholowski were claimed in October. Both of them were eventually reclaimed by their original teams before the end of the season.
They also all had a lot more NHL experience than Mackey's 9 games.

I see what you're saying, and you're right, but IMO-both Val and Mackey are too good to sneak through waivers. Many will disagree, but that's what I believe.

Milano floats. There is the reason the Ducks don’t want to qualify him for such a small salary and nobody picks him up.
Only good thing is he is cheap and should be motivated for his last shot at the NHL.

I wonder if there are concerns about adding a player who is part of the world junior team that is under investigation for gang raping a drunk woman.
I hope the Flames don't add anyone in this situation until they are cleared and the guilty are punished.

I think both are likely to clear on waiver day, but unlikely to clear the rest of the season. Almost every team would have to waive a player of their own to make a claim and would have to indefinitely reserve a roster spot for and unproven player, but mid season as injuries and call ups start to take over it gets easier for some teams to make a claim
It a tough situation, if you can get them down there it will be a big choice to bring them back, almost defeats half the purpose of moving the farm here.

Are you confusing Milano with someone else?
Milano is American and was on the 2015 & 2016 USA Junior Teams. Were there accusations against one of those teams too?

You might be thinking of Sam Steel, who was part of team Canada in 2018-the team associated with the incident. Milano is American, and was last in the WJC in 2016.
PS: I agree with you, and hope that Dube had nothing to do with that incident.

I read on another forum that he has concussion concerns as well.

If he is with Barkov and PP1, 100 again is very possible.
Everyone on that team saw their production increased significantly

I don't think any of the three of them score 100 points next year.
I wasn't hammering on Tkachuk, but he did gain a lot from an elite forward that popped last year.
But I'm not saying Tkachuk is anything but a great player, just don't see him as that 100+ point guy.

Milano would be in Sutter's doghouse the first week of training camp. No thank you.

Yeah , he is not a regular 100 pt guy for sure
I am just saying playing with Barkov and a stacked team, it should not be a surprise that he hit it again at some point. He is only 24

Has there been any articles released about potential waiver pickups or players to watch in training camp around the league?
I agree with the notion of maybe leaving cap space to try and snag someone with high potential who's getting waived this season due to salary or not showing up at camp 100% or something.
Milano is better than Rodrigues IMO. I don't think he's the answer, but there's a good chance Milano is better than what's likely to be available on waivers. If we're not trading one of our D men for an upgrade, Milano is likely the best winger we can hope for. BUT we may also just be waiting to confirm the Weegar extension before trading a dman.

Pagnotta with the scoop that they are close on an extension is not far from me saying that they are close to an extension. He has almost zero credibility here. Who's his source? Treliving? Nope. The lawyer acting as an agent with one client? Doubt it.
He knows nothing.

So was Kylington though.
That said, while lots of times people talk about Sutter being able to turn players around, why make him do that as opposed to getting players who don't need it? Unless they otherwise have distinct and rare attributes, that is. If we're talking bottom six especially, I'd imagine you can find "Sutter players" as easily as ones he has to work hard to chnage.
