Edmonton is No Good X: Up and Down Like a Toilet Seat

Oilers are still a shallow team, like usual. Just a little less ####y now with Kane full time. But still less weapons than the Flames and Canucks in terms of guys that don't ride on the McDavid effect to put up a respectable totals.

I guess we're in "6 lines and 4 pairings deep" season. This year it's eight 50+ point scorers.

After 5 decent candidates it becomes a stretch at best.

Better chance one of RNH/Hyman put up less than 50 than some of those depth guys put up more.

Anyway, don't you think the Oilers have enough legitimate things to make fun of and making claims we were the better team last year when they eliminated us from the playoffs in 5 games just makes us look like we are desperate and pathetic to find something the Flames are better at?


It's the type of thing posters here would pull from other fan bases forums and literally laugh out loud at. If you're stretching this hard to take shots at the Oilers, your accidentally making them look good

They have had the best player in hockey for the past few years and still haven't won Jacksh*t! That in itself is enough to make fun of. You mouth breathers in Coiler land thought it was funny when we lost Johnny hockey but I can't wait to see the gong show when McDavid asks for his trade out of that dump up north.

And I thought the entire point of this thread was to mock the oilers not make us look pathetic.

I can't like this part enough, as I think it is easily the most defining part of oiler fandom. They want so badly to be the best in every category, and they think they should win every award ever. They are genuinely salty that Tre managed to do anything to salvage the roster because they expected Calgary to sink after losing our two top scorers (who magically went from impossible to win with to elite unstoppable talent the moment they went elsewhere), and they are even more upset that their team isn't the talk of the town, with all their legendary roster moves like *checks notes* resigning a player maligned in the league who still told them he was checking free agency first, and signing Janmark and Campbell. They have no awareness that McDavid and Draisaitl were obvious picks, and not some hidden gems found through deep scouting and player development. For them, their roster is built through sheer hockey intelligence and gumption and no team has managed to build a team quite like it, and it has nothing at all with being so overly rewarded for being no good that the league had to change draft lottery rules.

You decided to try and correct the statement about Edmonton "finishing ahead of us" in an E=NG thread, when anyone could easily see the poster was talking about regular season standings. Nobody said that matters more than playoffs, but that wasn't the question nor the discussion.

And no matter what happened in the playoffs, Flames were Pacific Division champions for the 2021-2022 season, thus they finished ahead of the Oilers. That is a fact. Regular season determines standings (or where a team finishes). Playoffs determine draft order. We finished higher than Edmonton anf then lost in the playoffs. Columbus swept Tampa one year. **** happens. Worse teams beat better teams. Edmonton is No Good and hasn't finished ahead of us since 2002.

You're thinking too hard. E=NG. This thread is an over-the-top place to dump on the Oilers - it is not a place for nuanced conversation, it is not a place to argue. We dump on Edmonton and their garbage fire team. Period.
