wranglers Wranglers sign Lucas Feuk to AHL/ECHL deal

Looks like the Flames have convinced the 2019 4th round pick to come over to North America.

https://www.hockeyettan.se/2022/08/2...m-dromchansen/

They have not signed him to a NHL deal which is uncommon for a European draft pick to come over without one, but something they have done in the past to get a prospect into their development system. It is a 2 way AHL/ECHL deal.

Feuk has struggled to establish himself in the 2nd tier of Sweden's pro men's league the HockeyAllsvenskan's but was able to put up nearly a point per game in the HockeyEttan which is the 3rd tier.

Chechelev is the most recent example.

They also did it with Adam Ollas Mattsson

That’s who I was thinking of! I remember a defenseman given the same thing.

It is a good opportunity for Feuk to improve his game and increase visibility to the Flames brass as wall.

Good chance for the organization to help with his development more directly! Hopefully he's able to grab the opportunity to grow his game.

I wonder if the Wranglers being in Calgary will help encourage prospects to sign in situations they may not have. They have immediate exposure to the big team, could get a connection to the coaches and it's way easier to call guys up now. I think having them in town will show great benefit over time

Stepan Falkowsky. Huge D that inexplicably put up big offensive numbers one season in the ECHL. Ended up signing with the Kings organization and is now in the KHL.

Figured something might be up with Feuk when he popped up at the development camp.

I guess the team chose him over Ryan Francis. Francis is playing in Laval on a minor league deal.

They would’ve had to give Francis an NHL deal to keep his rights and after he went through the draft he was able to sign with any AHL team.

Feuk has bounced around in Sweden. The problem with the leagues in Sweden is that they need to focus on winning over development, as they are facing relegation, or playing to move up a division. Getting him here at least they can focus on getting him back on track and see if there is anything there before having to make a decision on him next year.
