Next to Brendan Parker everyone looks thick.

I think it's peak offseason trying to read much on extension talks from a fluff piece interview.
Weegar is a well spoken guy and is probably keeping a poker face on since to not do so may impact negotiations

Not sure if this was posted in here or not, but this story with Weegar is pretty funny.

One thing that stood out to me was how sad our dressing room is. I don't know what the Panthers' dressing room is like, but comparing ours to other rooms I've seen around the league, it's pretty sad.
I'm not saying that would be a factor to Weegar re-signing, but I would imagine it's a little disappointing as a new guy to come in for a tour and see that.

I saw that clip too with Weegar and his wife/gf and yeah the dressing room did look a bit older but they both seemed in awe when they walked out to the ice level and looked up and around.
I think the players know what they’re getting into as far as the arena goes, they’ve been here before and know a new building is in the works.

From time to time I work with a big US sports facility designer (I'm sure you know who they are Mass, haha), and the locker rooms and training facilities that exist down there and other pro sport hotspots around the world are absolutely mind-blowing. The amount of customization, branding, sports psychology and capital that goes into designing these spaces is incredible. Hopefully Calgary's new arena can reach this level; these spaces definitely matter to players, even if they don't disclose it publicly.

Guy played in this, he will probably be okay...One thing about the dome is that it actually has some history and while the fan experience might be lacking on the concourse the players have everything they need and then some. Ice is better than most rinks too despite CP complaining.

Florida's room is pretty much the same as Calgary's...
Tweets from 2016...
It looks like it got a paint job a couple of years ago, but no significant changes other than colour...
Their arena opened in 1998, so only 3 years after the Saddledome's major renovation.

So with Weegs being here now do we get a 9 pm signing announcement? Glad he's here finally to see things .
It's been a great summer ....its like Christmas came early with all the new snarly, skilled , Stanley Cup sipping signings .
Drop the puck....I'm ready.

Watching the video and Weegar saying he was just in town to visit before he moves here in a few weeks makes me believe a signing is likely close. Similar to Huberdeau he likely wants to secure the extension based off his great play the past couple of years. The Treliving love fest from the national media will continue and the salt from the David Staples of the world will also continue.

A building that hasn't broken ground yet isn't going to be a factor for most players. What's the very best case scenario - it'll be open in 4-5 seasons? Maybe it gets better in 5 years isn't going to matter.

Not that Huberdeau or Weegar would have seen it, but I read that the Panthers are scheduled to open a new practice rink this summer in Ft Lauderdale (the old one is in Coral Springs). It's in an existing facility but with a $65M renovation budget it will probably look pretty good.

TBF that was 19:07 of the 1st. I'm sure dozens more people arrived.
