Only on CP would an argument over McDavid being elite be a thing. I can hardly wait until he moves on just to alleviate the inferiority complex a little

I mean, sure he’s elite at more than just skating fast and getting points. He’s also elite at convincing refs he was obstructed.
Elite to me requires a player to be great in all aspects of the game, not just the best at one.

Listen to Gaudreau talk about the series
They enjoyed lighting it up game one playing river hockey and then disappeared. Not the only issue but they were the top guys with the most ice time.

Are there any players in the league that are elite at everything? No.
McDavid is the best skater and best offensive forward in the league. Of course he's elite. If he's not then nobody is.

Agree he's the best offensive talent in the league.
He also couldn't hold Crosby's jockstrap when it comes to being a 200 foot player or a leader. And arguable if he's even better offensively than prime Crosby.

Yea, and thankfully Ovechkin finally decided to become elite at age 32, because his 7 50-goal seasons & 6 Rocket Richard Trophy's before that were very meh for an okay player

McDavid is a generational talent. Hate the guy all you want but his on ice abilities and his numbers speak for themselves. He may not be the complete player that Sid is, but his offensive talent honestly is superior. Let’s all just hope he doesn’t win a cup in Edmonton and leave it at that

Imagine having a season where you have 50% more points than the next nearest player not on your team and not be considered elite. Amazing. That is definitely something Crosby never accomplished. The only player I can think of who ever accomplished that was Gretzky.

McDavid isn't elite. Crosby isn't elite. No one else is elite except for who is the best player currently in the Flames...and as soon as they leave (because they will), they're not elite.
Gaudreau WAS elite, now he isn't. Tkachuk WAS elite, now he isn't. Huberdeau WASN'T elite, now he is.
Another rule is that no one is elite on the oilers, unless they leave the oilers. McDavid isn't elite...until he leaves the oilers, then he will be. Hall wasn't elite, now he is.
Rules is rules.
