There's dudes where I work where they do this in the lunch room. Watching FB videos and Tiktok stuff at volume when you want silence. We have a good working relationship and I don't want to rock the boat, but secretly they should be waterboarded...

Seriously. I got a cheap no-name set of wireless headphones from amazon for $30, throw one in one ear and leave the other so you can still hear stuff around you.
How clueless do you need to be to think that playing volume from your phone speaker publicly is acceptable
Is that really a question.
So much entitlement in our society to go along with rude and clueless behavior.

I was on the bus once and this passenger next to me didn’t even know their headphones weren’t plugged in all the way. She was wearing the earbuds with sound coming through her phone speaker at full blast. I am not confrontational though, so I just let them be. It was better than the other person playing Candy Crush with the volume on.
I’m okay with music on a hiking trail. They’re making noise. Apparently bear bells are totally useless so you’re supposed to talk really loudly once in a while.

Sound direction is key - you want to give advance warning.
I often hike/backpack solo and use music/podcasts at times (especially uphill grinds where it can be harder to shout and/or maintain full bear-awareness.
I'm rarely on busy trails, but when I do encounter other people, I turn the volume waaaaaaaay down/off. It's not that hard.
Also, music is less effective than voices (for bears with any human experience). Maybe spoken word music is the sweetspot.

Lull the wildlife to Sleep with the Calm App. Featuring the voice of Jerome Flynn from Game of thrones.
What about a bluetooth speaker in the golf cart? I do this sometimes.
Depends on the situation and the volume. Obnoxiously loud on a nice day and nice course in the mountains, bad. Men's night or a scramble tournament at a volume the group in front can't hear, fine.

I really hate the Bluetooth speaker hiker people. I also hate people with electronic music at camp sites. You don’t need to add to the sounds of nature
The bear argument is not justified as you say voice is far more effective.

Bear bells are useless, but playing music over speakers is just nauseating for everyone else. Not even sure if they’re playing it as some kind of bear repellent. Judging by the flip-flops and jeans, they probably aren’t avid hikers and don’t know much about trail etiquette
NFL is back. I don't know what it is, but as someone that likes sports I just cannot stand hearing the over the top analysis style discussion from people that are into that league. It just drains me when it comes up.
Maybe it's because it's so gambling centric, but man I just roll my eyes when someone starts talking about that league, cause I know it's going to be the same "THIS GUY has to come up a huge this week" "THIS OTHER GUY ****ed me last week!!!". Just a bunch of boring garbage with heightened, dramatic explanations to anyone that isn't invested in the league.
