It will go something like…

“Remember when gagner lit it up like a superstar? Contemplate that level of goalscoring talent and the experience of being on teams without perennial 300 point players Draisatl and McDavid, with the benefit of a $9.25 million defenseman. Now imagine him with those players!

My take:

1. Gagner could be that player
2. Oilers wouldn’t sign him if they didn’t feel the same.
3. I love McDavid’s girlfriend
4. My video analysis says that Oilers didn’t have gagner on their team last year.
5. Bob Stauffer on oilers now agrees that gagner wasn’t on the team last year.
6. You can drink out of urinals if they look like hand washing stations
7. I haven’t attended a hockey game in person for 30 years.

Conclusion? Oilers didn’t have gagner last year, and now they do. This is exactly the smooth move of one k Lowe, who isn’t that far away from the oilers!”

Please note the quotation marks!

That is eerily accurate, both tonally, and likely content wise.

Edmonton is no good.

End of story, move on.

I still find it weird that bettors have the coilers sitting so high. Is it just recency bias? Their D is still garbage.

Pulled from HF Oilers:

"Puljujarvi + Foegele + draft picks is a trade you make for Patrick Kane a million times."

Typical Oiler fan. Why would Chicago do that you dummy?

If the draft picks are two first rounders they probably do it. Each of the other two at 50% retained are worth a 2nd... 2 firsts 2 seconds seems kinda reasonable.

Because if I'm Chicago sitting on a top player the return for which I hope to further my rebuild, I'm absolutely going for Edmonton's expiring garbage first.

It's amazing that they can't think from any perspective other than their own over there.

But haven't you heard those first round picks are likely 29-32 overall?

Kane would also have to waive his NMC.

To go to Edmonton.

I can see a younger guy heading towards UFA going if he thinks McDavid will pad his stats (like Evander Kane).

But Patrick Kane will get the same offers no matter where he plays. He doesn't need McDavid feeding him. I'm betting he's content to ride out a year in Chicago and see where he can go after than. He's from Eastern US so I imagine that's where he will look.

Totally fair. A younger guy who hasn't won it all makes a ton of sense, like Hyman.

I also don't know how well egos would mesh bringing in an actual winner like Patty Kane.

Testify!

Reading that made me puke through my nose a little, which made the whole world smell like Edmonton. Eerily accurate indeed.

Other than Colorado and maybe St.Louis the Oilers are the best team in the West so the betting odds definitely make sense.

The Oilers will squeak into the last wildcard spot on the back of its offense, and proceed to get swept by Colorado for the 3rd sweep exit in 3 years.

They'll be worse then last year.

  • Their defense is thin.
  • They don't have Smith's puck handling skills to bail out the Oilers defense on shootouts.
  • Campbell probably isn't near an elite level starter, he's played at most 49 games in a season and that was last year behind a way better blueline then the Oilers had.
  • The new coach bounce will be gone, and McDavid and Draisaitl won't stand for a whole season of a coach telling them what to do.
  • Outside of Their top 4, its an average forward group with a below average bottom 6.
  • Spoiler . . . . . . . The Oilers will at best be a wild card team, or be supplanted by Vancouver and LA in the playoff race, and the blunder twins will tune out Woodcroft by April.
Last year was an illusion. Kane will probably screw up by game 40.

Summer in Edmonton… when the fanbase has some form of brain poisoning from all the pollutants that thawed out in the spring.
