Some of the second line guys tend to have long careers. Hossa - 37 his last year, with 26 goals and 45 points.

I don't want to be that guy that roots for playing in the mud. But think of what Kadri and Wilson would put Kane through?

I am for playing the game how it is supposed to be played. McDavid should never be allowed to drive the net and have his “right of way”. He should be demolished and put through the end of the rink when he drives like that, that would address that risk from him.

This is one we are likely to regret unless the Flames win a cup the next few seasons. The second half of the contract will be bad, not unlikely looking to be bought out or losing picks to get rid of. 3-4 years from now there is also a good chance the historically mismanaged Panthers will suck and the Flames miss out on a top prospect.
Pessimist you say? Yes, a long time Flames fan.

Put that whole team through. My goodness, the no goodness would be broken.

I do hope we take every liberty short of suspendable ones.
Oilers think they can play scrimmage no-touch hockey to a deep playoff run after getting rid of their only tough guy?
Yeah right. Get real. This is the top league in the world. We're going to lean on you and hit everything that moves. And your soft & frail skill players will either have to learn to answer to us or cry about it to the media while we drink their tears.
That Looch McDavid hit should happen every night the two squads play. I hope Nazem and the new guys help change that culture around allowing their skill players have any kind of "right of way".

Sounds and talks like Johnny. If you closed your eyes during the post signing Kadri interview, you'd think you were listening to Johnny.

Looool. Put those tweeters on the insiders Wall of Shame for future reference.

Agree. As someone pointed out (probably you?)....Pagnotta doesn't have a good record when it comes to insider trade scoops.

I’m not too concerned about the length of the Huberdeau and Kadri contracts. The flames best window is the 2 years remaining on the Lindholm contract. By the time years 5-7 hit on both contracts, the flames will probably be in rebuild mode anyway.

Who was the other media guy that basically just echoed him.
Also give little blue checkmarks to the avatars of the posters that broke the Huberdeau and Kadri signings early here. Apparently on some transactions this board is a better source than Twitter, which is awesome.
Cool to know how connected we are here.

Some of you are really good at reading the tea leaves for sure. A couple people correctly called this week that Shannon, Pagnotta and Drance probably all had the same source feeding them bad info that it was a done deal with the Isles.

Agree, it’s win now or bust. The term was the price to get the team in that position.

Did Thomas Drance report it? His Twitter doesn't have a tweet about this unless he deleted it now

Don't like the player. Or the term, or the dollars, a bit high.
Don't mind the style of play and the Flames need that along with talent but he's crossed the line numerous times and that's proven to be a liability.
The contract will age terrible compared to Huberdeau, but as mentioned, let the 2027-2028 Flames worry about that.
Coming off a career high in stats and accomplishments, really tough to see if that extra desire is going to be there. But, for the first few years, which is the Sutter unfinished business era, he and this team will be dynamic, as I don't think they are quite done.
And, the work Treliving is doing is stuff other teams GMs (and fans) wish they had the courage to do to get or keep their team competitive. The ownership too, stepping up and providing the funds to pay (in this case overpay, oh well) higher end coveted players and dismissing all sorts of narratives made up by naysayers about the city and market.

No details on the structure of this deal yet? Wondering if it's buy out proof or front loaded where there would be a chance that Kadri retires early if that is what he desires.

7 yrs is probably a problem but who cares, in 5 yrs we are probably in deep #### anyway. Any generational prospect for 2027?

I kept looking at the Flames line up with Kadri in the 2C slot thinking that it looked too natural a fit. For whatever reason, I couldn't imagine any other supposed trade target slotting there.
Should've happened 3 years ago.

Hossa has a 100 point season, one 90 point season, two seasons where he scored more than 80 points, 5 other seasons where he produced at a more than 70 point pace and had a higher point per game average than Jarome Iginla. I don’t think that he is a second line player. Langkow is more of a Kadri comparable.
