Toffoli as well. The Flames are set up very well for 3 years and that might be when all the raises start to really hurt them as well as age.

Drafting and developing is the key though as I doubt they need to replace Lindholm, it's more replacing Backlund, Toffoli and Tanev through the system. IMO what they provide is very good but if you draft well it shouldn't be that hard to replace them.

Hanifin also IMO isn't a must keep in 2 years. If you have extra assets you can always replace a guy like Hanifin via trade for a player who makes less than $8 mil on a short term deal. Buy yourself a year or 2 rather than just fork out $8 mil or so for him

I also think in 3 years $10.5 mil won't be a top 30 cap hit. The Flames still only have 1 player who is over $10 mil and that doesn't kick in until next year.

If Brad has other targets, he needs to move roster players. That could be Dube, Valimaki, maybe even Hanifin. Which worries me. Salim, who was weirdly accurate last year with his Flames targets, keeps bringing up a Hanifin move.

Yes, I posted this in one of the other monster threads, but... just heard second hand via someone listening to the radio, plus its Derek Wills, but he apparently said its very likely that the flames aren't done, and that there will be another trade to come? Referenced a defenseman for another top-6 type forward?

Did anyone hear this as well? Or is just my older dad meaning well, but...likely not hearing correctly?

I heard this, and that’s what Wills said, though he was pretty clear that it was just a guess, and that he had a feeling the flames aren’t done here. The top 6 forward for defensemen was admittedly just an idea he had.

I honestly don’t think Wills is connected to the Flames in a way that would generate inside information on trades. Not really his style either
