Lifetime Suspension

So its been noted around the internet by both Colorado and Edmonton fans that Kadri is good at shutting down McDavid.
I'm finding myself disliking this contract less and less.

don't worry we will just trade a 1st round pick to Arizona in 4 years to get out of them

I am disappointed in the lack of highlights from this year for Kadri on YouTube, can’t even find all his goals from this season

You may be ok with 3yr x $8.5M, but you are not getting Kadri.

Guys still playing reasonably well in their roles:
1. Giordano is 38 -- 35 point guy last year
2. Parise is 37 -- 35 point guy last year
3. Pavelski is 37 -- 81 point guy last year, clear outlier
4. Suter is 37 -- 32 point guy last year
5. Smith (40) -- pains me to say it, but reasonably solid last season
Less stellar examples/recently retired:
Chara (45) --> Free agent, probably done
Keith (38) --> Done, played decent in playoffs, mentor guy to their D
Spezza (38) --> Mostly irrelevant, now retired
Thornton (42) --> Free agent, mostly done, loved by the leafs/mentor guy when he was there
If these guys retire in their 38/39 years, is that not... a good thing?

Kadri is already hated so much by so many in this league… imagine if he lays out McDavid in a battle of Alberta? The oilers fans will be calling for live, televised hearings with Kadri strapped down in Hannibal Lecter’s restraints.
Hopefully he brings the intensity he has for years and produces well for the flames. I think he’ll have some big games for the flames.

I can try to look at the positive side of this.. you have to think in 7 years time the salary cap will be much higher.
Sure those are highlighted players, but there are many effective players who just burn out by 32-34, then we're stuck with high paid players for a few years collecting around 30-40 points a season.

Kadri had the most successful passes into the slot in the league last year. That plus Mang's sniping is a recipe for success.

I love this part of it. Even if he tapers off a bit as the contract goes into the latter part, if he can get under McDavid's skin every night they play, then this is awesome.
Edmon-chuk losing Kassian, no matter much I thought he was a tool, made them soft as butter.

Love the player....hate the deal.
Understand it's the cost of doing business.

If you're looking at an age comparison keep in mind that at the age Kadri will be at contract's end, Thornton scored 50 points, and the year before he had 82. Same deal with Chara - 37 points at age 37.

Friedman just said on the Fan960 that the Kadri to the Isles wasn’t really as close as the rumors said it was
