If all is true here (Monahan being moved out), and considering the rest of the offseason moves, I feel like Backlund gets the C next season. He's been here 14 years and always an absolute warrior for us.
He deserves it, IMO.

I'm fine with the move since they are in "win-now" mode as long as Darryl is behind the bench but all this "Treliving is a wizard" stuff seems overblown until we know the financials. 7 years at a massive overpay would not be ideal even if someone like Kadri will be a valuable addition. Hopefully it's a reasonable deal if he does give him 7.
Wouldn't surprise me if lucic is going to Boston and monahan is going to Montreal for anderson and some adds from mtl for term. Sutter clearly values toughness so they will need a guy who can fight and play long run especially with #### disturbers like kadri on the team
Taking on term might allow them to work it without giving up assets
I just don't see how Boston fits in Lucic's cap, they are already over the cap.
I think it's Monny + for nothing. If the + is Zary or less, I would consider that a big win for Treliving.
Unless there is more news about Monny's injury, and he's going to be on LTIR all year, which would lessen the acquisition cost by quite a bit.
Our two top scorers decide to leave and this is the result:
Out: 236 points
Johnny G
Chucky
Gudbranson
In: 246 Points
Hubs
Kadri
Weegar
+10 regular season points
Stronger at the two most key positions (non goalie) - Centre and Defense
Other gains and losses:
- Gained a prospect and 1st round pick
- Unfortunately gained age in our key player group (Kadri vs. Tkachuk)
Not everything works out, but put me in the camp of the thing I'm most nervous about now for the Flames is when BT gets his extension. Great work by him with his back against the wall, love having a GM who can make moves.

As a fan, it always feels silly to complain about a player getting $1 or $2 million too much or a couple more years in a term. This solidifies a NEED for the team for the next 2-3 seasons. The window is wide open. #### or get off the pot. Worry about the cap side of things in 2025 after Calgary buses that pick from Florida to draft the next franchise player.

He scored at a 100 point pace, is a center, and was great in the playoffs
"Valuable addition" is selling it a bit short

This off season is crazy. What a summer Treliving is having. From looking to be on the brink of a rebuild, to the roster possibly being better than last years?
