I would imagine that after this is almost complete we'll see something similar at Bow Trail

That only makes sense and is consistent with what seems to be City philosophy. Part of the larger strategy to keep continuous construction zones on roads for as long as possible.

People bitch about construction no matter what. If they build interchanges at both Bow and Richmond I have no doubt that people would be irate, "WhY dId ThE cItY dO bOtH tHeSe PrOjEcTs At OnCe?! ThE tRaFfIc Is TeRrIbLe!!"

Yeah I don't understand why they don't just use magic and make things appear overnight

One issue is that there is far less space at Sarcee/Bow so if you built the the Sarcee/Richmond concept up at Sarcee/Bow you'd be bulldozing some houses.

What I meant was time after time we’ve seen one project wrap up only for a new one to start literally just down the road. One construction zone ends and a new one replaces it. Would be nice if both projects ran concurrently.

You jest, but I remember the days when all of our major construction used to happen at night / off-peak hours with massive stadium lighting being set up. I had first moved here and Nose Hill and Crowchild was a four-way lighted interchange. By about 8 PM, the big-ass lights got cranked up and the place was buzzing.

Looks like Richmond Rd from 50 St to Sierra Morena loop (and the loop itself) is planned for paving this year...maybe it's just a lack of communication between depts, but it would seem silly if there were any imminent plans for a bigger project there.
The little exit from Strathcona onto Bow is also slated.
It's also funny to see 37 St (Main Street project) and a nearby but not connected stretch of 26 Ave scheduled this year... and then the connecting stretch of 26th is scheduled for next year.

That's still the case. There's way more road construction going on at 2:00am than at 2:00pm. Just not so much with major infrastructure where traffic is going to be mangled anyway, and working at night is a lot more dangerous

There’s a reason people speed in construction zones and it’s 100% on the planners. But city roads/construction/whatever project managers are absolutely terrible so it’s not surprising. .

It's actually overly litigious drivers who have made construction zones as painful as they are, but sure, go off...

It's been open for months and I still appreciate this road and could never go back to how it used to be... for anyone who had to deal with 14th street as their regular commute, especially during BRT construction, we deserve good things.
My wife and I live in Oakridge and have to drop the kid off at the grandparents over in Sundance in the morning and then get to jobs in and around the MRU area... so obviously this road is pretty much tailor-made for that. Still, the old way would have been 25 minutes south, then probably at least 40-45 minutes back north in heavy traffic. Now it's 15-20 minutes south and 20 minutes back north with mostly highway-like driving conditions, and just generally a stress-free commute in about half the time.
I can't wait until the northern part of the road and HWY 1 construction is done, it'll get even easier to hit the mountains for the day.

Literally went back through the WCRR's updates and couldn't find anything re: dates, aside from the North section shifting to final alignments in 2022 (Which is good).
Big Q is if that includes the OBCR piece or not (arguably one of the biggest connections in the interim)

Am I dreaming, or does it appear that preparations are being made to eliminate the weave between Sarcee / Glenmore / 37th?

You will not be able to get onto 37th from Sarcee. You will have to loop back and do the roundabouts on the Westhills overpass to go westbound on Glenmore.
Maybe this way they will make it 80km/h the entire way through.

I guess, I wasn't aware of the initial design. I just drive that way every day.

Yes there was a sign on Sarcee saying access to 37th is closed permanently.

Or go further South on Tsuut'ina Trail and exit onto Grey Eagle Drive. Although, I have no idea if that would be faster than the route you suggest.
