How do you all read that? RA didn’t think he was saying Lucic to Boston with the initial tweet or the he is replying saying it so not a rumor and it is a fact this will be legit going down?
|
Probably the latter if I had to guess? I think he fully knew what he was doing with that initial tweet.

Lol!
Dont worry about it, if anything is going to happen, it'll either happen on Monday or it has to happen now to make sense.

If the Flames could move him, they'd have room to acquire a first line forward.
I assume he's unmovable or he would have been moved by now.

Makes no sense to move Lucic unless the Flames know for sure they’re acquiring a top line guy. If they aren’t getting a huge upgrade at forward, light as well keep Lucic for one last year.

Disagree.
Moving him (still dont think it happens myself) does 2 things.
Obviously the cap space becomes much more significant, and that matters as much later in the season as it does to start it. It allows deals to be made longer out from the TD than waiting to accrue XX dollars everyday leading up to it.
2, it opens up a W spot for the youngsters to try and win. The left side is crowded as it is. Let Pelletier or one of the other guys win that spot in camp....and if none of them really do enough to do that....guess what? You have cap space to go shopping with on the market as teams that start people on LTIR start getting them back and are forced to make moves.

If the Flame have to eat money or send a sweetener it is not worth it if there isn’t another shoe to drop. Is Pelletier really going to benefit from the 4th line? There is the load management piece that has been brought up with Lucic where he maybe only plays 50 games next year. I think he brings value as an enforcer so I am of the belief if they move him another move is coming.

Assuming they could somehow get out of Lucic's contract without paying a sky high premium, the Flames should have done it yesterday.
They could use that money to sign guys like Stastny or Rodrigues, both of whom are massive upgrades on Milan.

There isn’t going to be a sky high premium, some of the well below cap teams take him for a song because he’s only $1MM in actually money. Understand that this upsets Oilers fans, but it is the way it is.

Maybe we just employ the same negotiator that the Coil used to get Keith and Smith gone.

There isn’t the same cost to moving Lucic as there was for a player like Zack Kassian. Lucic is still a useful player as an enforcer, teams that can find space on their team cap wise (like the Bruins with multiple players on LTIR) he is an asset

He has a 10 team trade list now so you wouldn't need him to waive for any of those teams. Boston and Cali teams likely on it

Flames have 2.7 in cap space right now. Add Ruzicka, it’ll probably be roughly 1.9 remaining with 13 forwards, 7 d men and 2 goalies. Prorated that’s about 9 million at the deadline. No problems at all adding a forward. Lucic still provides value even if he ends up being the 13th forward ( dressing room) on the roster. I wouldn’t move him unless the cap space is actually being used.

If Lucic really doesnt want to be moved, why wouldn’t he just pick the 10 teams in cap hell, so a trade is impossible?

Ya, they’re upgrades, but maybe the Flames don’t want to give them term beyond next season. Flames need room for Huberdeau and the incoming Weegar extension. Those guys aren’t players I’d want to tie future cap space on.
