Hardly even wet the ground in Okotoks so far. Nicely cooling off though.

The storm rolling through central Alberta is insane. It is like a monsoon and most surprising is the size. It is not localized at all as we drove through some of the most intense rain I have ever seen for a solid two hours.

I just got home from playing a round at Priddis. It was beautiful out there. We had a tee time at 4:50. They had thor guard go off earlier but it was dry out there.

Markerville, Innisfail, QE2 area, moving east of the QE2 - just getting bloody hammered. Grapefruit size hail being reported (direct quote). Pine Lake is on alert.

660 News/Traffic reporting this:

Quote:
Major damage being caused to vehicles between Innisfail and Red Deer. Police, fire trucks, and ambulances are currently tending to several people who have been caught in the hailstorm. Avoid driving in the area. Tornado watch in effect for surrounding areas. #abstorm #660Traffic
This is the QE2, I believe, somewhere between Innisfail & Red Deer:

Hopefully nobody died on the QE2 in that maelstrom of hamburger sized hail. The pictures coming out from there look devastating.

It’s outflow from the storms. It’s like a cold front. Check the radar you’ll often see it as a line or semicircle.

Insane how close that was to Red Deer and what the carnage could have been. Bad enough for those impacted as-is, but if it hits Red Deer we're talking one of the biggest hail events of all times.

What difference 10 clicks makes

edit: RIP heat wave

Was not expecting that last night. First time I wore shorts and did not take a jacket to shinny. 30° and sunny when I walked into the rink, came out to blustery and cold. Stuck it out for one parking lot beer and that was enough. You would think I would have learned by now after 25 years in this city. Always bring a jacket.....

Yikes, I was on that road from 2-5 PM yesterday too. Sounds like I got off it just in time..

This is what you dream of for alberta.

Don't change a thing until late Sept. It's perfect.

Going to have like 20 days at 30C this year without smog. Incredible.
